I was tipped off about this auction on ebay and I never knew they made a full-height drive that big. I would bid on it and pop it in my Crimson but they won't ship to canada.

Didn't they have a 9GB full height IDE some years ago too? I remember one being advertised at Tiger Direct for nearly $1k.
The biggest drive I ever had was the 43MB MFM drive that was in a TI-990 system from the late 70's. It has a belt drive, 115V ac motor, and used 5 or 6 8" platters.
How about this one?

I love the belt-drive! "Transfer rates are slowing, the belt must be slipping!"
The tolerances on those were huge... You had to keep the dust cover on during operation, of course, but notice the convenient latches for taking it off so you could oil the bearings and such. Cool!Ludicrous gibs!

Re: I never knew they made them tis big!
The belt drives were great too. In my mind it was one of the first non-disk pack drives that started to resemble a hard drive. The only thing is that THEY WEIGHED A TON!

Check the Vending machines!!

by handsworthJust wanted to share some information that I ran across when attempting to do the tape method on a tv with a shorted panel. I normally use magnifying glasses however while watching a you tube video, the person was using their phone. It seems that the Iphone has a magnifier app and wow, it works great. I have Iphone 11 and the app is built in. Pictures attached are screen shots. Made taping the pins a breeze. Also useful when reading the tiny print on the boards. Hope this helps somebody. ...

by rumi409 Hi,
I'm trying to resurrect a LG OLED C1 TV that has some panel banding. I used the TCON error bypass to get a picture. I was able to update the firmware as well. But when I performed a pixel cleaning to try to get the banding out, it made the image significantly worse. I tried to undo the effects of the pixel cleaning by performing a factory reset and IN_Stop, but that didn't work. Any way to reset pixel cleaning data?...1 Photo -
by ivtecHi folks i need some help from the electronics pros on a small audio amp for my old lcd tv that sound is too low on the speakers despite to be on the max volume, i know the issue is on the main board , the only solution is to buy a new board but i don't want to shell out 50 bucks for a board . I have seen in Utube some home made audio amps but i'm weary about those projects, i 've seen a audio buit with an STK audio amp ,. I don't have STK4142, i have STK4273, my question if this is not fake and works can i do it with STK4273 instead of STK4142? thanks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcTZS5Y...02-04-2024, 10:42 AM

by TopcatIt's been a LOOOONG time since I've done one of these.... I've had the case for years, its just been sitting in my office with crap stacked on top of it. It has a Micronics 486 motherboard in it with a DX4-100 CPU.... I was never a 486 enthusiast, I had no intentions of doing a build with it....I only kept it for the case....which someone dropped off for recycling years ago.
Anyway, I recently stumbled upon a Supermicro P6DKF AT motherboard and tested it in 'the oven'. I remember seeing one (or one similar) back in the 90's before eATX was a twinkle in anyone's eyes and wondering...-
