    P35 board audio problems

Ok, so I've got this new Gigabyte P35-DS3L board (all solid caps BTW), with:

    C2D 6550
    2GB ram
    Seasonic 500w from other thread
    500GB Samsung SATA HD
    XP x64

Everything else works ok, but the audio refuses to work, at all. The driver will not load. There's drivers out there, that say they'll work with Windows XP x64, but they will not load at all. It says the installation failed.

Now I've noticed on other Intel builds I've done, that things work a whole lot better if I never load the Intel INF update. After I load that, the whole thing goes wacko. Drivers dont load, things dont open when I click on 'em, etc. I'm thinking my whole problem can probably be traced back to that, but if you guys know of any incompatibility here or have any other suggestions it would be appreciated.

my advice is to use a real audio card. any old SB Live is far better than the onboard solution, anyway.

i've also experienced in one case that the MB manufacturer didn't provide the correct audio driver. IIRC it was a NForce2 board with a Realtek codec. the provided driver (both on CD and on-line) was for that exact Realtek codec, but only a driver directly from Realtek would work.

Ok I solved it. It was the Intel INF update. I reinstalled, did NOT load the Intel INF update, and the rest of the drivers loaded fine. Sound works, everything else works. The only thing that doesn't is standby mode, and I'm not too concerned about that.
