    Q on Proc/Mobo Combo's Performace

I Just got a deal from a local guy here in my city who is selling his unused PC parts:

    Athlon 3000+ Socket 939
    Epox EP9NDA3I mobo

Offered at an affordable price of $65.

    I have a question though:

Barring any overclocking, how much of a performance increase will I see with this combo like lets say against my current combo: P4 2.6 "C" Ghz & Intel 865gbf mobo.

    Constants:
1 GB (2x512) RAM (Theoretically both Proc/Mobo Combos can use Dual Channel Mode)
    40GB Seagate Barracuda
    256MB GeForce FX5500
    Linux and Windows XP

Comments are very much appreciated. :-)

    Re: Q on Proc/Mobo Combo's Performace

It depends on the usage of your system and the type of Intel CPU. I would assume it is not an very huge performance boost, but may be in some games.
On the other side, it is not that much money too.

I would suggest to look for some benchmark charts between your current cpu and the Athlon64.
