I use a TV as computer monitor. I set my computer's resolution to 1366x768 to suit the TV.

Look for Overscan and Underscan settings in your video card's control panel . Same with the TV, select PC input or 1:1 or whatever option you have in the OSD.

The most likely reason why there are 1366x768 (and 1280x768) displays is to maintain backwards compatibility of the 4:3 1024x768 resolution.

            1366x720 isn't a proper aspect ratio for anything - 683:360 ratio.

1280x720 is the proper resolution for 16:9 720p, hence it'll work normally. The next best thing that might work is 1366x768 but odds are since it doesn't work the TV is just made for 1280x720 max and tries to scale everything else.

1366x768 is a surrogate for 16:9 since 1365.333 x 768 can't be used (768 * (16/9) = 1365 1/3). Not that 16:10 would be usable either, that would be ~1229x768. 768p needs to die in a fire, why anyone would want a 768p monitor in the first place is beyond me, we're not in 1998.

                1366x768 is "HD" and 1600x900 isn't.

I don't know why every laptop that costs less than $900 and has a screen smaller than 17" uses that resolution.

The output resolution of the hd4500 is larger than the 1366x720 screen resolution.

The HD4500 does 1920x1080, are you mirroring what is on your laptop ? try just sending the picture to the TV.

My HP DV-6 1259DX has HD4500 but i only see 1366x668 max, i have to use 1280x720 so it fits the screen and has best resolution on the TV,it always detects resolution auto,if the Tv was 1920x1080 then it would have that resolution,
i tried it with my HD 15'' Led tv that has 1080i and it detects 1920x1080,
i guess the problem is the tv.
What i don't understand why is shown the same resolution of the tv and i get small pic!with 1280x720 i get the best pic and a close fit of the screen, although the edges are cut off.
