Samsung 51 Inch Plasma
Model# PN51D530A3F
So last week, I get home and try to turn on the TV and nothing happens. When I unplugged and plugged back in, all it would do is click 5 - 7 times and then nothing.
I took it to a local TV service repair shop and paid $50 for an estimate. The estimate came back at $390 for a bad power supply and bad X main. (as well as something else which was ineligible - regulation???)
I thought to myself, "Matt, you worked on million dollar aircraft in the Navy. Surely you can fix a TV." So I turned to google and was met with a plethora of information (good and bad).
I disassembled the TV and first isolated the Y and X boards coming off the power supply. And lo and behold, it "turned on" with jingle. The I isolated the X main, but plugged the Y main in and it turned on again. I assumed that the X main board was bad, so I ordered a replacement from SHOPJIMMY and had it the very next day.
I was so excited that I saved myself hundreds of dollars, but when I replaced the X main board, the clicking continued.
I was assuming that since it powered on without the X main plugged in, that the power supply was good. Am I wrong for assuming this?
If anyone can take time to help me, I would be very grateful. I already was forced to watch the Superbowl on a 27 inch.
