    Re: VirtualBox

How fast is it? from my experience, MS virtually PC was the fastest x86 emu i had been running compared with VMware (comparing a emulated Red Hat linux on w2k host using Virtual PC with Red Hat host running emulated w2k with VMware).

          R9 290x GPU Dead?
          by Faber88
Hi everyone, just got a R9 290x. I checked the main rails and seemed the resistances were present, then I connected it to the test bench and found 12v - 5V - 3.3V - 1.8V - 0.8V present. Forgot to mention the card was probably water cooled, came as you see in the picture with some coating probably to protect the components from condense (?) I am not an expert. Anyway no image is shown and apparently not even the System is booting. When the system is booting usually my keyboard light up but it does not when the card is on. Tried to not connect the two 8 pins or to connect only one, the system seems...

          Apple A1990 / Board number: 820-01041
          by RWS93
          Brand: Apple
          Model: A1990
          Board number: 820-01041

Problem: I am not an Apple kind of guy to start with. But I am quite experienced with motherboard repairs in general. So the laptop is stuck with 5v 0.250A and does not negotiate 20v. Same symptom on all 4 USB C ports. When charger is plugged the amps start at around 0.060 then go trough: 0.100 - 0.180 - 0.230 - 0.244 and stay like this. Laptop responds to the power button: once I hold it long enough current goes down to 0.060A and then up to previous levels.

Board clean, no liquid damage, no corrosion....

Questions About USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and USB4 Designs: Type-A vs Type-C, MUX Requirem
          by electronx
          Hi everyone,

I’m currently learning about the USB protocol and designing a project, but I’ve encountered a few questions that I couldn’t find clear answers to. I’d really appreciate your input!

          1. USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 with SuperSpeed Type-A Connector
According to the USB 3.2 specification, it states that USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 can support a SuperSpeed Type-A connector. This raises a question:

If we use a SuperSpeed Type-A connector, the system would only utilize 1 lane for data transfer, leaving 1 lane from the host unused. Is this configuration valid,...

Suggestions for machine for Apple Configurator 2
          by mon2
Hi. I think we have a candidate for our first DFU macbook with a 'critical update error' message (A1706).

With regret, we do not seem to have a machine to mate to a suitable host to run the Configurator 2 tool.

Any suggestions on such a box ? The latest models are quite expensive on Ebay and such.

We do have a macbook with the older style Thunderbolt connector - can we purchase a Thunderbolt to USB C cable and run the same tool ?

The system details does show a THUNDERBOLT controller on this other macbook.

Does the host need to have...
