Custom Android for Motorola Edge 2024

As I mentioned in the "What pisses you off?" thread, after my phone updated to Android 16, there's an app called Glance that constantly spams me with notifications asking me to enable a news feed on the lock screen or install some terrible game. When it asks you, there's no "no" option. Now Android is automatically rate-limiting notification popups because of it. I would honestly call it adware or a PUP at best, but in the modern world, it's a good and necessary program that enhances your user experience, and nobody seems to care enough to flag it as the malware that it really is. For that reason alone (not even the Google spyware and Gemini bullshit), I'm looking for custom Android ROMs (if they're even called that anymore) for this phone, but I don't know what is available today. Nothing besides GrapheneOS really gets any attention, but I think that's only for Google Pixel phones. Are there any other choices before I replace a phone that's less than two years old (especially with component shortages and pricing meaning that the only phone still available with the same storage space as this one is the Google Pixel 9 at $799)?

get your bootloader unlocked and your options expand greatly.
frankly you want to kill /remove / replace a fair chunk of the pre-installed stuff.
even the basics like gboard onscreen keyboard are keylogging you!

incidentally, buying a new phone wont help.
99% of the crap pre-installed is dictated by google and on all of the phones.
Glance? anything starting with a "G" is suspect.

That's a different Glance than what I have. This one is a third-party thing dictated by Motorola instead of Google.

First you have to get this:

Then to get into adb, adb shell

And to remove

pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.glance.lockscreenM

Same thing can be done with the software I linked above, now that the app ID name is known "com.glance.lockscreenM"

That removed it, but now we'll see how long it takes to come back.
