    ADVICE please (asrock 4coredual-vsta Recap)

    Hi guys,

Gonna recap the 1000 and 1500uf lines out of the box for the following reasons:

But I have so many choices to make:
    ------------
    *16v 1000uf:
    - Nichicon's models to choose:
    VR, VZ, HE and PW

    - Chemicon:
    KMG, KY and KZE

    ------------
    *6.3v 1500uf:
    - Nichicon's models to choose:
    VR, VZ, HE and PW

    - Chemicon:
    KY, KZE and LXZ

I need to maintain the 8mm diameter (no room for fat caps like Pana's FM).

    Thanks!

I use UCC KZE or KY in my recapping projects.

    Zippy GSM-6600P
    Curcial Ballistix PC6400 (4 x 1Gb) Micron D9GMH

      Tx Nade,

      I just found like there a bunch of 6.3v 1000uf short Evercon's!

      Evercons1
      Evercons2

Which capacitors in that line are less than 1 inch tall?!

Forget the VR/VZ series. They are not low ESR. The HE are the longest life out of any of them, but I've never seen a bad PW. 6.3v 1000uf should be available in all the series at 8mm x 15mm or shorter.

I would consider some of the Samxon series, maybe the GC, GD or GA ones.
they should be available in the right dimensions & values.
Apart from that may be Rubycon MCZ is wort to put into consideration.

But if your choice is limited due to availability the KZE are the way to go.

            AsRock P4i65G polycap/polymod advice?
            by Erroneous Hyphen
            Hello!

I have a Pentium 4 motherboard, a AsRock P4i65G that I'm wondering whether it would be worthwhile doing a polycap upgrade on? The existing capacitors look fine to me, none are bulging or leaking that I've noticed. I was approaching it more from an 'upgrade' perspective, as to whether there would be any benefit to do such a mod even if the existing capacitors look fine?

I believe that if I do go down this route, for the Voltage Regulation circuits that I should be sticking to the same capacitance and voltage, and that a higher ripple voltage and lower ESR can...

ASRock N100M, no picture no boot, but semi-alive
            by Exim
            Hi guys,
I managed to semi-kill an ASRock N100M board after updating Bios from 1.10 to 2.01. It's a zombie now, dead, but not dead.

            ASRock N100M special features:
            - CPU soldered to board, small Intel 12th gen
            - iGPU
            - four POST LEDs

Problem after updating Bios to 2.01 using the in-Bios update tool: no picture, no boot.
I am not sure anymore if it booted at least once successfully after updating the bios to 2.01, maybe not, I can't remember. I think it did not.

            Symptoms:
            - no picture/signal on any of the display connectors,...

What IC does AsRock usually use to make the PWM signals for GPU fans ?
            by MasterCap
I have an AsRock Taichi 7900xtx, and the minimum fan speed is way too high at 1000rpm, and thats with it's Quiet BIOS switch on, and me setting the fan profile as low as it goes, while on.

Now 1 thing I could do is just make some circuit to put in between the fan the the GPU, and leave the fan on all the time, but anytime the GPU is sending the PWM for min speed, I'll just send something lower and quieter.

But does anyone know what how AsRock usually sends the PWM to the fans on GPUs and mobo's? Is it from the MCU that's often near the 12V inputs and fan jack ? Or is...

Asrock H87M-ITX power on and off, need advice please..
            by mrcliem
            Hi members...

I have Asrock H87M-Itx that sometimes ago dead due to bad bios, and thankfully one of good Badcaps member help me with the bios file.

It have been working flawlessly for a few days, but suddenly this morning, the motherboard just wont turn on.

If I pressed the power button, the power led comes on for one second and turn off. I check the psu_on pin while attach on motherboard, the voltage fluctuates, like it wont latch.. and I have swap 3 different good known PSU.

So its like being switch on an off repeatedly...

            ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
            by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:
