Good day.
I have an Acer Aspire Z3-615 with broken LCD and since there is no financial point in getting a new LCD, I would like to use it with an external display.
When I connect an external display to the HDMI port, it shows picture only after the POST has finished and the OS has started to boot, thus I can not access the BIOS or reinstall/change the OS.
According to the schematics (attached), the LCD display and the HDMIout use different signals from the CPU/GPU - eDP for the LCD and DDI for HDMIout.
The HDMIout signal comes from the CPU, goes to a video level shifter (PI3VDP411LSZBE) and then to the HDMIout connector.
The LCD signal comes from the CPU, but then I'm not sure what happens to it - looks like it is cloned to RTD2136 and Scalar BD RTD2586 and then combined in the LCD... I guess it's something to do with the unit being able to work as a standalone display.
So do you think there is a setting in the bios, which disables the HDMIout during POST, the level shifter needs more time to boot, or probably it can boot only once a driver has been loaded in the OS and it can not work without an OS?
Do you know any workaround of connecting some kind of a display to the board?
Thank you in advance.
