Re: DVD drive looks like a CD drive to windows
DAMNIT!
After I last posted I proceeded to do a dvd burn on my external USB drive and everything went well then suddenly the drive stopped burning and the process aborted.
I then tried to read the dvd that was half-done and the drive just gave a blinking busy light but did nothing. I then tried a known good cd and dvd and neither of those were read either.
I then restarted the system assuming the power connector on the drive was bumped (I got to get around to fixing a cold joint some day) and as soon as the system was done loading I tried again. Once again, the drive couldn't read anything and even more angering, my 128mb Magneto optical drive completely vanished from the list of drives the system knows exists.
EDIT: If my day with drives was already at a low point. It just got worse.
I just lost the dvd drive in my linux system. That's three drives in one day and five drives in less than three weeks.
