    DAMNIT!

After I last posted I proceeded to do a dvd burn on my external USB drive and everything went well then suddenly the drive stopped burning and the process aborted.
I then tried to read the dvd that was half-done and the drive just gave a blinking busy light but did nothing. I then tried a known good cd and dvd and neither of those were read either.
I then restarted the system assuming the power connector on the drive was bumped (I got to get around to fixing a cold joint some day) and as soon as the system was done loading I tried again. Once again, the drive couldn't read anything and even more angering, my 128mb Magneto optical drive completely vanished from the list of drives the system knows exists.

EDIT: If my day with drives was already at a low point. It just got worse.
I just lost the dvd drive in my linux system. That's three drives in one day and five drives in less than three weeks.

Ouch, you stay away from my computer. I just had one HD go down.

Don't worry, all hell has been breaking loose today.

          -Failed drives
-The the CPU cage fan fails in the server and goes unnoticed for three hours
          -A video card overheats
          -A trojan was discovered
          -Dinner was served late
-12 hours outside and the futon is still wet.

Anyways, I shut the system down, check the cables to the drive and closed up my pc case to allow air to be forced through the case instead of out the sides.
I booted back up and everything was there.

The creative drive however is still being an ass but it's days are numbered.

Yep, everything is running fine now.
I popped in a temporary dvd drive I had and it works fine.

Now on to more troubling issues. Look at my other thread.
