acer 5920g motherboard replacement

I was going too replace the motherboard on my acar 5920g as tryimg too fix it myself and buying the tools might cost a bit more right now until i get good at soldering.

I was just wondering if its as easy as some pages online say they are not too clear on what too do and i was hoping for some advice from someone with knowledge than just some random page. Thanks any help or advice would be good.

I would replace it with the same bramd n model as mine im not sure kf fine details matter.

And would it work when i put in a new hd and used my factory reset disc from my old one on the hd or would i need too change somestuff in the boot screen etc please help im just a beginner.

if you don`t change the CPU and the chipset its the same , Yes! you can use the recovery disk and nothing will change

It isn't worth replacing the motherboard as the replacement (new or used, does not matter) will fail shortly in the same way.

The MCP67D chipset is no longer manufactured, it is not worth investing any money in this laptop anymore.

I like it as it has an internal soundcard for recording its a good laptop for my uses i bought a second hand ssame model and im running my harddrive in that. Its really hard too find a laptop with 4 usb ports a mic in a line in and a line out and a headphone socket and a hdmi out a vga out and the connectors this laptop has, if there is any other laptops out there with these ports and 8gb of ram or 6gb i havent seen any really when i looked. But yeah i know the problem might happen again, thats just the risk with the replacement model and a different board for my broken one. Whats a mcp67d chipset . i sound stupid but gotta learn somewhere. =)

i think that if you update the bios you can install a mxm card with 1gb video...buuuuut beware the cooling
i have 6920g at work and i need a screen for it and a video card.

There some bargins on ebay i got the same model laptop with a bluray drive just hard drive missing for 98£ even the ram was in it. I could of stripped it down n got more lol. Lol i wont do that the laptop gets hot enough running it for hours mixing all night some nights n all day making flyers etc .

Factory defect in northbridge chipset. This only affects the model with AMD processor though, the ones with Intel CPU are fine as they use an Intel chipset and not nVidia. Only the graphics card is the weak link in the intel-based ones. But that can be replaced with an ATI card which will not fail.

I hv acer 5920g with failed p407 ver1.3 nvidea card.i also I hv modem missing here..modem T60m955.00. Due to this my laptop restarts 6 times every time without video..There is always white screen..but I hear w7 welcome sound after 6th boots.my quest...
1.is modem necessary for video output in acer 5920g. ?
2.i bought old used but working nvidia card on another laptop with little different ver that is 1.5,(previous I hd ver 1.3).I tried it ..it doesnot make any difference.
3.i tried ext display. ?tv out fn+5 dissembling assembly ...no result...battery out without main power power
Fr 1 minute..still same result..no video...pl help..

1. The modem is not necessary for anything.
2. The nVidia MXM video card you bought is probably good. The problem with Aspire 5920G with AMD is the MCP67D Northbridge chipset. Unfortunately that chipset is no longer manufactured and you cannot get it new. You can find used and refurbished ones but it's a lottery. I'm sorry, but this laptop is not worth repairing.
