is core2duo working under win2k or is required to install xp for full performance?

As Topcat stated, if it supports multi-processors...
you can always create a dual-boot test mule and run benchmarks in each OS, compare the results.
It would be interesting to see if Win2k is faster w/o XP's extra fluff.

Win2000 is SMP capable right out of the box. I believe the limit to be two processors.
I just migrated from W2k to XP Pro, and changed hardware platforms. Moved up from Epox KT133 to MSI nForce-2.
I mulled over a socket 775 box, etc, but since I don't game I have no real need. The MSI board is populated entirely with quality caps, and works well with a Sempron 2600.
My Win2000 installation was broken after the missus installed a bunch of Yahoo games for the grandkids. I was never able to repair IE6, which would hang if scrolled while still downloading from a web page. Strange bug, could not fix it. I moved up to XP Pro/SP2.
I have VMWare installed on this box with a gig a RAM, and it works great.Comment

Win2K does not differniate between physical and logical CPU's though

well i cant even get win2k to install, even with sata set to legacy or native but ide (using sp4 slipstream on the intel dg965ry)
it just hangs at the first "setup is starting win2k" screen after copy of files.

i got it installed using DIY method of copying the AHCI driver over the files on the intel F6 install disk which is for up to ICH7. Seems ok but i dont want AHCI anyway in win2k.
bios says ahci is only for vista?. anyway problem is that wd diagnostics boot cd does not work with ahci. i bet ghost is not working also? i need ghost working for work pcs in case hdd starts failing in the future.
the linux guys seem to have some difficulties with ICH8 also.

In a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.
Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):- BIOS + database update
- Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool
- Previous setup version for Windows 11 installer
- Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
- TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
- Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

Sorry ahead of time for the text wall. This is a strange problem and I have tried to explain it as best I can. I realise this is a hardware forum (mostly), but I am still not sure if this is even a hardware fault! I am hoping that someone more knowledgeable than me in the area of understanding installation logs, or someone that has had a similar issue in the past may have some ideas of what might be causing this.
The issue:

Problem
This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached.... -
For years I tried figuring out how to R|W BINs from my CH341x programmer.
From FTDI's pkg, Apps specifically claiming they work, I failed for ~8 years.
I'd expect many here figured it out (easily), but in case not ...
It's one of the few forms of "how-to" remuneration I can GIVE BACK.
