    Can this power it?

    I'm wondering if this is by any means possible? As some of you know, I am building up my Jukebox once again. It's got a crappy VIA C3 or the like motherboard in there right now. It's the mini ITX variant and I don't really like this form factor apart from the size because everything costs $$$.
    I would now like to modify my Jukebox for use with a mini ATX motherboard in which I can get my hands on for $10 or so.
    However, the power supply is my problem right now as I have no room left and the mini ITX power supply is what I have. My ITX power brick is a high quality Lite-On unit 12V and 20A, so that's 200W or so.

    I have a converter thing similar to this (converts 12V to 5V and 3.3V respectively). http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pico-PSU-...aa24aec&_uhb=1

    Rated at 120W, well let's say 100W because it's Chinese made. I would like to run something along the lines of a C2D E6550 or 7200 and an SSD HDD on a G41 based board... that's it. Nothing more. I will be using onboard graphics and all. Will this be okay for use "by the books of BCN"?

    I know the CPU is already 65W, but is there any C2D less than 65W???

    I have a C2D desktop with HDDs in it, plus an 8800GT, and it only uses 100W idle from the wall -- probably 80W load. Hits 250W when gaming, but that's not important to you. So I doubt you'd run near any limits with a 200W power supply.

      I'd find a better ITX board. Like an atom board or something. If you were local I'd have a Core solo based celeron one you could use.

        It's like $130 for a mini ITX board... money I don't want to part with just yet.

        Runs off the DC power brick I have right now and CPU seems good enough... Atom D2500. Takes DDR3 SODIMM which I have lying around. All I need to do is add an SSD and that's it.

            I have actually tried that. They don't exist! Well for under $45 anyway...

            I'm going to place an order for this J&W board tomorrow at a computer shop... once I find one. Unfortunately all the PC shops in my area dissapeared due to tablets and the like.

            EDIT: Did see an Atom (Intel OEM board) with an N270 for about $30... but no N270 for me, that thing can't even run a YT video on low definition properly! (Experience based on my Toshiba NB100 and Asus 1000H).

              Got the J&W board today and modified my Jukebox to accomodate micro ATX boards as well. Works fantastic so far. Caps are made by Samxon GF(M) series. At first I thought they were G-Luxon... but looking closer it said Samxon... phew.

                  I thought all Samxon was good, but I will however keep an eye on it... not that $40 is alot, but if caps do let go, I will probably buy a new board to save time lol.

                    Stevo, I was going to ask what you are trying to achieve until I realised you already got a board and got it working. I was going to suggest potentially trying something like a Raspberry Pi or a Beaglebone Black ($35 to $45 to buy brand new). It is true that you would be forced down the Linux route with these options, however you would get an incredibly small PC which runs on almost no power (5V, 1A power brick will do) and is more than powerful enough to play music files through an SD card, flash drive or through a network.
