    ADSLoPSTN question

I have both ADSLoPSTN at home and in the office. I have not setup a VPN connection between them for security reasons. So i use pcanywhere to dial in to my computer and occasionally retrieve a file for someone. (its not very often).

the dial in is done from and to the pstn part of the adsl line. However the speed is not the same as before the installation of adsl.

I am wondering if the dial up connection is restricted in speed once adsl is installed?

    any ideas?

    Re: ADSLoPSTN question

    Are you Filtered?
My fax still works on a dsl line, probable only 9600 baud tho.
It makes sense that something would have to slow down.

        Re: ADSLoPSTN question

I'm not that up on this but tell me if it makes sense?
Both my phone lines are Dslamed at the switching station not far from here.
I'm only using one pf the dsl lines with a modem, router, voip and all my stuff.
The other line has some phones and answering stuff.
Even though it's a dsl line, it has no modem, and when I use it as a dialup it will connect at a normal speed, looked like low 40's but I wasn't paying much attention.
I'll try it out again to be more sure.

I just shut off the dsl modem and tried to connect to that line with an old 56 flex modem.
I got nothing, not even a dial attempt. switched over to the unused dsl line and connected imediately at 49333.
It could be that the second node has not been configured yet by the phone company.
I have been told recently that my fax was shooting blanks also, kind of interesting.
I was blasted totally out of the water just a couple weeks ago and everything had to be rewired and replaced so I'm just now recovering from that. Found another thing blown out just the other day.
I will conclude that my particular modem would Not connect to the active DSL line at all.
