    New PSU wont plug in.

I'm not a noob but I sound like it. Must have been asleep at the wheel a couple of years.
Since when did the power connectors go from 20 to 24 pin?
It's not a big deal, I found the plug adapter, in fact they go both ways.
In my case the old board has 20 but the new power supply has 24, and some other plugs, for I don't know what.
Guess it's been awhile since I built a system.

you can use a 20-pin PSU connector on a 24-pin mainboard plug.

For more suggestion, it is better to do this matter if +12v rail have 18A or above.

some of the new PSUs have a 24pin plug which has a 4pin piece that detaches so the rest of the plug can be used on old boards. the fortron bluestorm for instance.

with those big ass 24 to 20 pin adapters it just looks ugly and makes it almost impossible to tidy the cables nicely.

and not to mention the extra resistance the adaptor introduces.adds many points of failure too.
often there is room to just let the extra 4 pins hang over the side of a 20 pin too.

I kind of looked at the just plug it in and see the vertical mount FET heatsinks are too close and it's not a snap together.
I will see how well made the adapter looks and may try to depin and repin but that looks like a thankless job.
I could use the always helpful Dremel tool to make it fit. I see its the starboard side four, orange black yellow red that have to go away.

I have almost the same board as you. the only change is an extra FET and an at-style connector just above the other connector (you can see where it would be soldered)

Yup I see that J6 row not used.
Looks like three pads are ground and two are 3v and one blank.
Thanx to all of the tips I think I'll dremel off the four carefully, then plug and pray.
This board is all Ost and nothing looks bad, I was using it to set up the back plane and the ports access. I may decide on another board to put in.
The Ablecom PSU says 550w and I'll only use half that.

Made a clean split off the extra four pins, no adapter needed now.
The system powers up and runs fine but it's a really loud Ablecom power supply.
The rear fan on this 2U panel is moving lots of air and I'll know if it stops turning, but it's part of an entertainment system. There are four fans total, the three others are very quiet.
I put a Soyo board in it after removing the wendel caps.
These two were bulging and I was surprised that they are both 1500uf, 6.3v, when the size is so different.
