    Core 2 Duo E6600 Overclocking?

Has anyone overclocked this chip? I have it in my main rig and was wondering how far I could push it with 2Gb (2x1) of Samsung PC2-5300 and an MSI G41M-P33 motherboard. PSU is classic Acbel 550W. Thermaltake AlCu rifle bearing 92mm cooler. Any suggestions on how far I could OC?

Personaly I use in my main box a Q6600.

But just the model of your MB does not sound as great platform for acrobatics.
My advice .. keep it at default.

      wont know till you try.
look up cpuz for a good idea of what to expect.some of us have validated our overclocks there.

based on ur mobo and ram info. u shud be able to overclock it to around 3ghz using 333fsb and 9 multiplier. vcore needed shud be around 1.35V.

however, as ur mobo only has 3 phase power, u shud not try any extreme oc past 3ghz lest ur board catches fire like the asrock fm2 mini-itx which is currently causing an outrage around the community.

if u can find a better board with at least 6 phase power, overclocking ddr2-800 or 1066 ram and a 120mm or 140mm heatpipe tower cpu cooler, u shud be able to clock it to around 3.6ghz to 3.8ghz. but always be careful. cpus start to give off tons of heat as u approach the 4ghz barrier.

          My E4500 didn't need more than 1.2V for 333x9.0. (2997 Mhz)

Right now, it is running stable at 2.7 ghz (300fsb x multiplier 9).

If the board allows it, do it. But don't push it too far, if you want to then get some cooling on the cpu vrm.

I got my C2D 6750 to 3.2, 3.3 if I really try, but I have to keep a blower on the northbridge heatsink (nforce 750i) or it would burn up, cause I maxed out the voltage on it. But right now, it maxes out at about 49C

ok I actually have two high speed fans on it
