FreeNAS is meant for storage, so you really shouldn't need to run programs off of it.

I understand, sometimes it makes it easier to run prime95 or cpuz or one of the other dozen simple programs. Personally I don't think anyone is going to attack my home server that sits behind a pfsense firewall and iptables on the server and it doesn't broadcast to the wan, and everyone that uses my server, I trust.
BTW I don't run freenas, I'm familiar with FreeBSD and I know freenas uses a port of samba. Freebsd is based off of unix and linux is similar to unix command structure.Comment

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.
Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.
The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:- The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
- POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket

The patient is an A1706 model - 2017 mb pro 13β core i7 16GB 512GB 4-thunderbolt ports
Symptoms:- Boots in recovery mode (Sierra)
- Internal SSD is visible and can be erased / partitioned
- Sierra install starts with 6 minutes estimate, but at the end of the countdown fails with βAn error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running this application again.β
- The same happens when I connect an external SSD or a USB-C thumbdrive and try to reinstall Sierra on that drive.
- Does not boot from external (Sonoma) bootable thumbdrive

In a Beelink GTR mini PC, mine has an Intel AX200NGW WLAN module.
Tried (only with keyboard/mouse connected):- BIOS + database update
- Using latest Windows 11 image built with official image creation tool
- Previous setup version for Windows 11 installer
- Replacing SSD without a slow block (the previous SSD had a slow block with access time > 500 mS)
- TPM reset (worked to the point where DRIVER_PNP_WATCHDOG error message is displayed briefly after the point of stalling)
- Disabling power to WLAN and LAN modules in BIOS (Advanced > AMD PBS > PCI Express Configuration)

I have a PlayStation 5 CH-1215A with a Disk drive not reading disks anymore. (accepting and ejecting very slowly.)
Knowing the PS5 has a married daughter board for the disk drive I made sure to use that and replace the rest of the disk tray as it* was owned previously by an indoor smoker.
Once the job was complete and put back everything together, I tried to insert a disk with no luck at all...
So, I checked voltage going from the ps5 to the daughter board and am only getting the 5V rail.
With that knowledge I preceded to check all the fuses for the 12v rail on the main... -
I bought 6 second hands odd $5 at a flea market and I found that 2 odd(GCC-4521B,TS-H192) won't read any disk.
But I measured all ESR value of SMD capacitor which is located on the TS-H192's PCB and replaced two capacitor which has higher ESR value.
And To My joy,this TS-H192 odd finally recognized burned CD as well as pressed CD.π
But there was no more good fortune for GCC-4521B..In order to dead GCC-4521B back to life, I replaced three capacitor which has higher ESR value and I rubbed silicon grease on the every glides.I even brushed lens with cotton swab which was soaked...02-13-2024, 07:31 AM
