Am using Win7. I can't wait to throw a dual xeon together and forget about this 640.

Your 640 can be a good backup machine.

I was playing FEAR 2 and TimeShift. I'll try Black Ops when I get home, I'm sure the PD won't like that

Okay, so now I'm in another pickle haha. It only concerns processor and memory. I can either use the 1.86GHz/2M/1066 C2D with 4GB of 667MHz memory or use a different motherboard I got for free that supports my 2.66GHz/4M/1066 C2D but the mobo only supports up to 533MHz RAM (it'd be 4GB) even with the lower memory bandwidth, I should still see a decent improvement with my upgraded proc right? But unfortunately the mobo would bring the 2.66GHz C2D's FSB down to 800

I decided to just throw in an E6400 and the overall system performance has gone up except in Titan Quest Immortal Throne (one of my favorite games) is now a little laggy to the point of annoyance. It must only use 1 thread cause it was flawless with my Pentium D

            What’s the bottleneck with x58?
            by shovenose
Posted on another forum about lame performance, can’t even manage 60fps at 1080p on GTA V with my bf’s computer.

            It’s a Dell XPS desktop with an i7-930 and GTX980 4GB GPU.

Initially it was running 3x 2GB memory modules in the wrong slots so it was running single channel.

I replaced that with 3x 4GB running in triple channel configuration. I thought for sure that would solve it.

Nope. A bit better but still no good. According to stats neither GPU nor CPU are anywhere close to 100% and even according to task manager none of...

Maximum speed should be marked on network ports
            by japlytic
I noted that a number of consumer entertainment devices have the maximum speed marked on the wired network port and considering that there are broadband plans faster than 100 Mbit, the wired network port can be a bottleneck since some routers do not have Gigabit (only 100 Mbit) support for the WAN port let alone the wired network ports.

One other thing: Certain low cost network cables only have two pairs which limits speed to 100 Mbit.

Does anybody have a BIOS dump for a Toshiba Satellite L350 (PSLD8C-00J00W)
            by JdogTheGreatOne
I'd be so happy, I searched everywhere for it and the dynabooks (formerly the toshiba laptop division) website gives a 404 and so does a website called Softpedia that seemed to have the newest bios file(Ver. 2.20), but it's not on the server. I've emailed the company but I wanna get this fixed fast so I'd love a BIOS update as I think that might be the bottleneck in getting this laptop to boot into any os properly. I believe the mb revision is 3.5 but I'm not actually completely sure what that means so take that with a grain of salt I guess.

Dell Inspiron 5100 (2003) with RAM issues (voltage, PSU suspect ??)
            by 13mh13
            Here's my device:
            LAPTOP: Dell Inspiron 5100 (2003) 2.4Ghz p4, dual-boot: Windows XP pro, sp1 + LinuxMint ( LM 17.1 MATE ), with 128GB ssd, 512mb ddr sodimm.

The 5100 runs fine, even after 19 years of daily, gentle use, "always on", and on adapter power only.
HOWEVER, over the past 5-6 years there has been a restart-up issue (after power down or power loss --- I leave all my PCs/laps in daily use in ALWAYS-ON condition, even going months w/o re-boots, but the inevitable always happens) .
Seconds to few mins after pressing the power button to restart...
