Re: LG Bad Cap Help
It could and probably would if its on the secondary side of the PSU, I have swapped caps on secondaries many times so far with great success. Although you should remember the rule about swapping caps with higher rated ones - never go more then 50%+ capacity and never go with smaller capacity then the original.Guns don't solve problems. I'll take 12

Re: LG Bad Cap Help
I'm not a born-again expert (yet) but yes, generally farther away. You can usually look at the circuit and tell where you switch over from the high voltage to the low voltage. A rectifier is a good indication. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. I've been out of this game for a long while, but the thread hadn't been answered and I wanted to try to help the guy out.

Re: LG Bad Cap Help
the capacitor actually costed me $1.39 with $7 in shipping and handling but because they screwed up and took so long to get it to me plus charge me $7 for s&h that wasn't supposed to be there i got a $25 coupon from them. And the capacitor is this. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=12460839 im not sure if its has a lower esr or if its a normal cap.

Re: LG Bad Cap Help
Ughh... not really good. The capacitors Radioshack sells are not brand name, so you can't tell how good they are.
You should have asked for our advice and buy a good brand capacitor from this site or a reputable store from digikey.com or newark.com - about the same shipping fee and cheaper price.
What you have will obviously work for now, as your tv works, but it's quite possible it will have a small life.
