Re: LG Bad Cap Help
It could and probably would if its on the secondary side of the PSU, I have swapped caps on secondaries many times so far with great success. Although you should remember the rule about swapping caps with higher rated ones - never go more then 50%+ capacity and never go with smaller capacity then the original.Guns don't solve problems. Re: LG Bad Cap Help
I'm not a born-again expert (yet) but yes, generally farther away. You can usually look at the circuit and tell where you switch over from the high voltage to the low voltage. A rectifier is a good indication. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. I've been out of this game for a long while, but the thread hadn't been answered and I wanted to try to help the guy out.Comment

Re: LG Bad Cap Help
the capacitor actually costed me $1.39 with $7 in shipping and handling but because they screwed up and took so long to get it to me plus charge me $7 for s&h that wasn't supposed to be there i got a $25 coupon from them. And the capacitor is this. http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=12460839 im not sure if its has a lower esr or if its a normal cap.Comment

Re: LG Bad Cap Help
Ughh... not really good. The capacitors Radioshack sells are not brand name, so you can't tell how good they are.
You should have asked for our advice and buy a good brand capacitor from this site or a reputable store from digikey.com or newark.com - about the same shipping fee and cheaper price.
What you have will obviously work for now, as your tv works, but it's quite possible it will have a small life.Comment

by quicknameI'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.
Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.
I decided to verify that the batteries were... -

by cmlewis89Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum. So my trusty 17-year-old LG 47" LCD recently died. As I was booting it up, I heard a hum followed by a loud bang, sounds of pieces flying around, and loss of power to the unit. Inspecting the PSU, I saw two obvious problems: a blown thermistor (bang + flung pieces) and a visibly bulging main cap. Inspecting as many components as I could with my Fluke MM, I diagnosed that the following components on the "hot side" of the board were also bad: one of the 2 main MOSFETs, main 8A fuse, small cap (25V 47uF) connected to main caps, and a blown...12 Photos -
by omonHi,
I was hoping to get some help in identifying a replacement capacitor for a PET Rubycon A0817 6.3V 1000uF rated for 105C temp, MBZ series.
This is to replace one bad capacitor on a DELL 530 motherboard DG33M03 (manufactured by Foxconn, DELL part # FM586).
I'm attaching the pictures of the bad cap.
Thank you so much!...-

Recapping the power supply board for a Samsung 305T monitor, everything is Capxon except 2 Rubycons. I can't find data sheets matching these online, so don't know what ripple numbers, impedence, etc, to look for. There are a few different looking GL series data sheet PDFs, but the listing that matches the capacitance and voltage is a much bigger case size. I've narrowed down selections with lead spacing and case diameter, and what's in stock at Digi-key
1 x Capxon 1000uf35v GL C720(is this a part number or batch number, can't find it anywhere) 105c
1 x Capxon 1000uf35v...-
