Re: Another good reason to use DD-WRT etc
YEAH! WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK MATE!?
That's some bullshit right there.
I'm getting sick and tired of these fucking fat cats destroying America, sending jobs over seas and trying to control everyone and while trying to gain power in government. WHEN WILL PEOPLE WAKE THE FUCK UP?! I try to convince people that protest, petitions and political voting doesn't work. They are too large for that, and violence is the only answer to these problems, a coup d'tat in essence, it's the only logical outcome.
Lucky for me I use D-link switches and pfsense.Last edited by Mad_Professor; 07-04-2012, 06:19 AM.

DD-WRT for the win!
Agreed that America is going south... Half the people are too ignorant, the other half can't find common ground. Add the fact that congress acts like a bunch of screaming 2-year-olds and cannot comprimise to get anything done (The REAL political problem) and you have the CF that America is in.
Edit- The fact that they will can someone's account over Porn is BS. Unless it's rape, animal, and/or kiddie porn, it's 100% legal (if you are over 18). Same for the offensive content clause, thats's also a 1st amendment breach. Screw Cisco, buy netgear (and DD-WRT what you already own).Last edited by ratdude747; 07-04-2012, 10:00 AM.sigpic

Re: Another good reason to use DD-WRT etc
something isn't right about that......
every single router or switch we use in the FAA is Cisco. most of it has no access to the outside world. maybe the gubermint is exempt????"Its all about the boom....."

I doubt Cisco would attempt such a thing with enterprise equipment as they would lose massive amounts of customers since I don't know of many companies that would allow such access of potentially sensitive information on their networks, and the US Gov. would never allow such a thing on their networks.
Cisco probably figures that they can get away with it on the consumer side believing that most consumers are too ignorant to know or understand what is going on or simply don't care as long as their router works. Sadly they might be right here, the sheer number of people who still leave their wifi unsecured speaks volumes to the average user's lack of concern for information security.

Holy shit. Not that I'd ever buy, or recommend a Linksys device (even if there's a Cisco sticker over the Linksys name) that's unfrigginbelieveable.36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

i'm more worried about uverse. they have some proprietary shit and you CAN'T use your own router (well you could forward everything to it, but it would still require at&t's). they can do whatever they want with it, and if you say disagree, no net, tv, phoneCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

Re: Another good reason to use DD-WRT etc
DD-WRT would be great for selectable dual-band routers (they don't seem to be of much use these days without DD-WRT) being turned into a bridge for clients with wired Ethernet without wireless networking (or to give those with wired Ethernet and 2.4GHz-only wireless networking capability access to 5GHz wireless networks)My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Load the Spyware right into my router! What a concept! Fuckheads! They can eat the cheese off my butt crack hair! I don't need that shit.I already spend enough time keeping spyware/addware off my PC as it is. Don't need it in my router too.

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.
