its definately the board, since the chips that look smouldered are soooo tiny there is no way i can replace them, but maybe i can re-solder the joint?

i have a 30w solder and im thinking thats too hot for the job?

never mind, i've had to order a new board for $575
its the only place on this earth i could find a suitable board dammit!

250 euro for a laptop

check the seller, he is in china first of all...ok it is a purchase consideration not a warning.
check the sellers feedback, he has 10 feedback. thats the first red flag.
its 100% positive - good
check the actual feedback, it is from 10 users with no feedbacks themselves (second flag)
the users gave feedback all on the same day (third flag)
the users are all no longer registered users (fourth flag)
the users all joined ebay on 27-28/Dec/05 (fifth flag)

i must of missed that auction, but dealing with products from china is risky as they mostly trade via bank accounts and its much harder to trace and get a refund this way, than via paypal or a credit card as its protected a lot better.

i've checked out impactcomputers.com and my board A-1108-887-A is $29 at the moment, but speaking via live support thats a mistake and its actually $575

its a dead board, nothing i can do to ressurect it, and sending it to sony would mean paying out more than the laptop is worth, they have you by the balls every step of the way

i'll either buy that board or just wait until one becomes available on ebay in the future somebody always breaks them somewhere in the world

im still trying to replace the chips and get the board back to life and i've been reading around and it seems completly possible

so keep posting with helpful hints
