I vote Samsung. I've yet to replace one, under warranty or otherwise.

Me too..I have mine for 7 years now, no problems.(Knock on wood! )
I have fix alot of viewsonics,with various issues, not a single one Samsung.

Well a few days old and this hanns-g has developed a line about 1/3 down that runs across the screen when you move in games.

I have an old ass 17" syncmaster 712n, circa 2004. I still use it today on my shipping desk computer. never given me a lick of trouble.

in general go for IPS panels.
there are really only a few panel mfg for monitors today - LG.Phillips, AU Optronics, Hannstar, Samsung/Sony.

I prefer NEC IPS displays myself, though Acers are great if you have to be cheap.

Very True. Some of the NEC monitors from back in the 2003-2005 date range were very good. Nowadays, some of the high end HP IPS monitors are good. I use a HP LP2065 20" monitor. It has an awesome picture.

**** NOTE **** Do some research and make sure you buy a monitor that either of the following panels: IPS (first choice) or P-MVA (second choice). Do not buy a modern TN panel...they suck.

Dell are good ones, Asus makes good panels, very common here (I'm using one and it has 3 years warranty). LG crt's were really reliable, also have one T710PU and it's been running non stop for 5+ years. Dunno about their LCD's though...
