And i thought a little case mod would be in order as well. A little extra fannage. I made it temperature controlled too, so i don't have to put up with that wheeeeee all the time. It starts making its presence felt at 50C, and reaches maximum speed at 60ish. It does whine quite a bit, but it moves some serious air for its size. I have a couple larger ones of the same height, but they are both 12v fans so they'd spin rather slowly at 5v and not do much. I haven't checked the mobo for a 12v or higher source that is present on both charger and battery, maybe i will, and fit one of the larger fans if i find one.

While i was at it, i also added a little something for the RAM chip on the top side that used to be in free air (i had already arranged for its neighbor to get some heatsinking from the top cover when i reflowed it). It isn't a lot, but it's better than nothing.

And yes, i do have to make some sort of grill for that fan, but that's for tomorrow.

PS. A big Fuhjyyu () goes to HP, Quanta and a certain dude who does "professional reballs". I'll never trust a computer service in my country ever again.
Hi There: Would you be so kind to show in more deatail the conection of the wires of the old fan with the new one. I want to make sure where everything goes, and not to cause a short!
    Thanks!

I'll have to dig it up but i remember i used the same circuit found in the fan controller of some (cheap) power supplies. One transistor, one resistor and one thermistor is all there is to it.

Btw, the fan in the DVxxxx series can be controlled via software, back then i didn't know that. And ultimately, it wasn't the fault of the reballer, it was a bad chip. I've since pulled it off the board and the solder was perfect underneath.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

        Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Sony Saga - 55EX720 board replacement fail (long)
        by thesteve
Hi. I think I ruined my TV.

So I’ve had a KDL-55EX720 for a long time. We’ve been through a lot. It was out of commission for a few years after developing a white line down the middle of the screen. I fixed it though at the beginning of the pandemic and have been using it as a standing desk computer monitor / second TV.

Well a few weeks ago there was a lightening flash while I was watching TV in the kitchen.
I had three TVs on at the time, all connected (electrically) to the same HDMI output of my cable box.
The kitchen TV recovered just fine...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
        by Hakuu
        Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

        More Details

        TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...
