    NLS Data Missing

There was a power outage. Win Server 08 installed on a 40G Seagate Drive.
    Won't boot. WHY???

First try turning it on after outage: SYSTEM DISK NOT FOUND PRESS ENTER TO REBOOT
2nd try: windows started loading like normal then BSOD (something about video driver initialization)
    3rd try: NLS Data Missing...

    Bad drive?

Boot into the recovery mode and run Chkdsk /F on the drive. If you do a sector-by-sector scan, it will tell you if the drive is failing.

I can't boot into Safe Mode.

And my fucking SeaTools CD doesn't seem to work. Man, this is frustrating!

I replaced the drive and did a clean install of Windows Server 2008. So far so good I haven't tried to get the data from the other two drives in the server yet tho...

                is it sata or ide?

did you replace ide cable? I've had cables do that.

Is this your 'dodgy' 40GB Seagate drive?
Use MHDD to check the SMART attributes - it's probably a pending sector, so just do a scan with REMAP set to on.

It's not the known bad one... even though yes it's a 40GB Seagate.
Thing is, I know I had a few bad Seagate drives around, except I forgot to mark them and over time they must have ended up in the good drive pile... this could be one of those. I'm going to scan this one when I get a chance...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Samsung Chromebook Pro missing 1.2V power rail and no boot
                      by theflyingsquirrel
I am trying to repair my Samsung Chromebook Pro. There is no boot. Upon turning on, the screen is blank and there is no backlight. Power LED is blue. I tried refresh with power and esc refresh with power with no avail.

When I measure the 1.2V rail, it is pulsing. It will jump from 0 to 1.2V then 0 again. I replaced the 2 MOSFET and even power management IC and it is the same. Resistance from midpoint between mosfet to ground is 0.5 kOhm but it will show 250 Ohm first before jumping to 0.5 kOhm. So it feels like it was charging up some capacitor. Since MOSFET and IC was replaced, I...

                      Hi Folks

I have an MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS-7525) which underwent LGA1700 replacement and had a missing resistor in the VRM section. The missing resistor RV170 (49,9Ω) has been resoldered, and I have also replaced a demaged LGA1700 socket.

Generally the board does boot to Windows, but not always in the first attempt, but after the second attemp to boot the board with Power Button. Also restarting the board from Windows ends up with stuck boot process, but restarting the board again (long push Power Button or switching off and on PSU). Under Windows etherything works
