    VP6 final board revision

    Hi Topcat,

I like to enquire what is the last board revision of VP6, and how many inbetween from the first to the final revision. Can you also advice me which is the best revision to get.
I am looking at a few at my local 2nd hand store. I intend to recap the board like you have advice, I might even sent it to you to repair. But I am in asia. What do you suggest, thank you very much.

The only version of the VP6 was 1.0... There were no factory revisions on this board, I guess this is one Abit got right for once (except the bad caps)...

Just just shout if ya have any questions!

      VP6 in China

      Thank you for the info.

I have never done a recap before, kinda worried but also excited that I have used for my 2nd p3-866 and those extra pc150 rams that I slavage from my CUV4 mobo.

I can sent your the VP6 and money order you the return shipping charges as well, how much do u charge in total for replacement caps, work and so forth?

if those other vp6 boards at the secondhand store are real cheap i would grab them.
nice to have a spare and they are good trade bait.at least to me.
        bet tc too.
and i have never seen any rev other than 1.0 either.
i have seen several hundred of these boards for recapping here.

does anyone know the total production for the vp6?
for instance one i am recapping this morning has a serial of tic004366
or is the serial the one on the left with more numbers?

I have no idea what that figure is. It would be interesting to know, it seems there's a never-ending flow of them with bad caps. All the serials on any VP6 I ever worked on was 'VP6-Txxxxxxx'....

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

              Hi everyone,

Symptom: When I press the power button the power LED lights up for a second and the fan etc spins for a second then the unit turns itself off and will not do the same thing again unless I unplug the power cable for a few minutes then plug it back in otherwise if I just turn the power switch off and back on right after it comes on for a second it will not come on again unless like I said unplug the power cord for a few minutes then plug it back in.

What I have done to try to isolate the issue so far:

The system powers on and stays on with...

Faulty ASUS X99-PRO board. Some progress with repair. Need advice\help please.
              by jimbodriver
              Hi everyone,
I am trying to learn electronics repair. I purchased a “faulty for spares/repairs” ASUS X99-PRO/ USB 3.1 motherboard for a very low price from ebay – a good enough price to offset the high probability that the board was completely toast and not realistically repairable.
              Initial results:
Board would power-cycle when turned on either with switch on board or shorting pwr pins. Fan would spin for a second or so and a QCODE of 00 would display then it would power off and then do the same thing again over and over. I think maybe 2 times in about 100 attempts...

              Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
