    Manually assign IRQ?

I have an Asus TR-DLS dual Tualatin board, nice but the onboard Rage graphics are inadequate.

When I attempt to use a PCI video card I get mouse trails and eventually lock up the board.

I am pretty sure I am conflicting with another device using the same IRQ.

How do you manually allocate an IRQ to a specific device, in this case, the PCI video card?

Does Device Manager report an IRQ conflict? If not, then the problem is of a different nature.

IRQs can no longer be allocated manually from Windows 2000 up without disabling ACPI, which opens up a whole new can of worms.

By that time, Asus was already shipping ACPI BIOS...

Go into the BIOS and see if you disable ACPI... If you can, then you have to boot into recovery mode and replace the ACPI HAL DLL with the appropriate one for "Standard PC".

THEN you can manually play around with IRQs...
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."
