maybe find something with better video? integrated video is usually crap (even intel in a way)

Yeah I know it's crap. But my Geforce 6800 Ultra is way too noisy (this PC needs to be super silent; I even went as far as using a 5400RPM laptop HDD in the tower case lol) and my 7300GT has a broken fan and overheated and died

Not sure if you can mount a bigger heatsink - should run fine passively cooled with a bigger heatsink.

Make an offer for something like 10-15$ and change a few caps and you have a good silent card. Worst case, you can maybe replace the heatsink on the cards you have with the heatsink from this

It won't run on my laptop either, it's an i3 with an intel chipset. I gave up trying to make it work. Keeps giving me OpenGL errors.

Intel is better under Linux, in my experience.

Ubuntu and Debian work like a charm.

I would avoid Puppy. Puppy has had broken Intel X.Org support, especially 4.3!

You need to make sure the OpenGL is up-to-date.

depends on the age of the chip.

i915 or i8xx is useless under linux. broken to no 3d support.

anyhting else is ok... i have had good luck with nvidia, even noveau has gotten pretty decent.

i915 has no real drivers for 7 x64 either. No 3d in linux is no surprise.

it used to have 3d until they swiched the driver design and forgot to make sure that it worked with everything. they should have forked the driver versions, but instead they forked the users

Wrong! If it's broken, it means you were using Puppy 4.3 or a sucky distro.
And some distros don't include the 3D Intel support out of the box and I dunno why.
