Computer restarting eternally after os installation

Ok so I got a new case (Cooler Master 430 Elite Black) and I put some spare parts into it ...anyway, for some reason it has a problem. I decided to go to bed last night instead of figuring out WTH is wrong with it so I didn't really try anything (except for putting the BIOS to stock settings because it was OC'ed to 3.5GHz instead of 3.2 but putting it back to 3.2GHz didn't help. Any ideas?

I mean this isn't an unusual problem (boot loop) but since the Windows 7 install ran fine (30 minutes at least) with no unusual issues it's weird that after I take out the DVD and try to reboot it it shows the BIOS splash screen (which happens to be the Intel Pentium 4HT logo), but then it starts trying to boot from HDD and then it just restarts... does that for at least 2 minutes (i let it do it for that long before I gave up)...

Any ideas as to what could be causing it? Software issues?
    Full specs:
    -Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
-DFI Motherboard (I think it's this strange thing: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136156 )
    -1GB DDR RAM
    -250GB SATA HDD
    -IDE DVDRW
    -P4HT 3.2GHz P4HT LGA775 CPU
-Large AVC-branded OEM cooler from a Pentium D workstation (I think)
-Asus Silent 7600GS 256MB Fanless AGP graphcis card
    -Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU
-Cooler Master 430 Elite Black case

I think that's it and if anybody has any ideas feel free to post 'em here

Tried running chkdsk? or reinstalling the OS withouth the CPU OC'd?

That PC is REALLY underpowered for windows 7, though. Bare minimum specs for it to run smoothly are a core 2 CPU with at least 2GB of RAM, although I won't run it on any less than 4GB and at work, we won't sell a PC with any less than that.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

I'm going to buy 2gb ram soon. It is not underpowered for Windows 7 IMO.
Good thinking on chkdsk but how do I do that when it wont boot??

Live CD, like UBCD for windows (UBCD4WIN), or BartPE. Basically, it's a version of windows XP which runs straight off the disk.

You could also put the HDD In another PC.

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

i'd see if anything else will boot first, like slax or something. also, that PC is definitely fine for win7, it runs on netbooks well, so anything more powerful than a netbook should be fine. Just leave aero off.

also, sometimes with the P4 series, OC'ing will make it all funky for a while. You may want to do a complete CMOS reset just to make sure the board isn't doing anything funky.

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

            I tried:
            Bios Fail-Safe Defaults
            Bios Optimized Defaults
            Reinstalling 7
Booting to SuperFDisk CD to wipe it, well I got a "Divide Error" (WTF is it trying to divide by 0 for? just kidding...)

So now I'm doing a not-quick-format with an XP disc and I'm going to see if XP will work...

MemTest86 said the RAM was OK, by the way (I ran it for like 2 mins lol)

Thanks for the advice everybody, and since my Hiren's Boot CD works fine I think it's just Win7 not playing nice with my funky motherboard (LGA775+AGP+DDR is very weird)

I'll post when I figure out if XP works or not...

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

Press F8 just before the windows logo appears then select "disable automatic restart" and tell us what the stop code is.

It could be something simple you might have turn on ahci or turn it off which may cause the 0x0000007B inaccessible boot device BSOD stop code.

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

bios software resets aren't enough when OCing... you'll have to use the hardware CMOS reset jumper.

also, let us know the stop code, if there is one. as MP said, sometimes turning ahci's settings after install will foobar windows (you have to add some reg settings to fix it).

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

But it would not even get to windows not even to where I could do f8. It would restart the second it would try to read from the hdd. But XP is working fine so its not a big deal.

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

that's still a problem with instability. try it with your CMOS reset (hard reset).

and your HDD is okay right? i know xp is more tolerant but will corrupt quicker than 7, probably a trade off.

Re: Computer restarting eternally after os installation

It seems to be working perfectly with Windows XP. All the drivers installed like normal and it runs stable.
