    How's OCZ these days for power supplies?

    I was at NCIX yesterday and they had refurbished OCZ 1000W power supplies for an unrealistic $45 each.

    They weighed enough to feel like they were 1000w too.
    However, how is OCZ these days for power supply quality? Will this be something that will nuke on me six months down the road?

      Well, they are not awesome like seasonic or corsair, but they are much better than most of them out there. I personally wouldn't hesitate using one in a PC of my own.

          Depends. Their FSP built models perform within ATX spec, but just. Their newer High Power build models are decent performers, but just decent.

              I think some of their newer units are sirfa, which are excellent, if hardware secrets is anything to go by (like http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/artic...ly-Review/1361)

              I wouldn't use an FSP one, though, unless I could recap it and put some real heat sinks in there.
              I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

                  Hi,

                  Back after a long hiatus with some old power supplies that need repairing. I've recently picked up a couple of 386SX systems, two 486DX systems, a SiliconGraphics Indy and an iMac G3 that either have verified leaking capacitors in their power supplies, or are likely to in the near future. For the sake of simplicity, instead of tackling all at once, I'm starting with the 386's and one of the 486's.


                  The 386's power supplies are Seasonic SS4040A's, with caps that are visibly leaking, and 9 replacement caps per unit are required. Most appear to be from the Rubycon...

                  SFX PSU - Need High Current on 3.3V & 5V Rails?

                  I have an older system which was built in the Windows 7 era and which has developed, I suspect, a power supply problem. The system had the same problem, random crashes, a couple of years ago, which I subsequently remedied with a new power supply.

                  The power supply which came with the machine is a no-name "Safe Power PE-300". It is SFX form factor and claims a high current capacity: +3.3V @ 22A and 5V @30A (the +12V rail claims a meager 16A). Problem is that SFX supplies (or even ATX supplies for that matter) having high current ratings on the 3.3V and 5V rails seem to be...

                  HP Docking Stations Power Supplies...?

                  All,
                  I recently purchased for a colleague and myself two used HP Docking Stations. They are for home use and are exact model as the ones we use at work for our laptops. We are both Software Developers.

                  Anyways these docks are HP Model 5TW10UT#ABA.

                  Unfortunately they did not come with there Power supplies (PSU) and I got them reasonable from eBay.

                  I purchased 2 new from Amazon After Market Power Supplies(PSU). Same Voltage and Same Amperage and in fact it mentions on the Amazon page they are supported for these docks as well.

                  I have been waiting for these switching power supplies to come well they came in today so I took one apart and found that it Capcon and EIite and another brand that is on my list of capacitors to replace on site it has several 0.47uf @ 50 volts ESR value twice the reading of a new one 10 UF @ 50 volts almost twice the ESR value of a new one 47 UF @ 59 volts with double the ESR value 100 UF almost the same as a new one it got replaced for good measure Iit was a brand if I see them...

                  I'm trying to fix an "old" 27' QHD Monitor. The brand is QNIX, a chinese brand so I can't find any schematic.
                  A couple days ago it shut down and didn't power on anymore, not even standby light.
