      Re: SCSI drives

First post another pic of the drive so we can see the connector end. Then tell us how many drives you have or will be using.

As far as I can tell it only has this wide connector

Ah ok, designed to be put in a caddy and slid into a server then.
Not sure if you can get cables for those...

            Cable needed is here:

            http://cgi.ebay.com/68PIN-Ultra-320-...item2c5b436bc8

            Adapter needed is here:

            http://cgi.ebay.com/New-SCA-80-68-PI...item4aa2f50ba6

You need one adapter for each drive for these 80-pin SCA drives

              Re: SCSI drives

Those are 80 pin. You will either need a backplain or 80-68 pin adapters and a 68 pin cable with with 1 connector for the card and 1 per drive plus a terminator on the end. The adapters arnt expensive the cables can be if you buy from the wrong place. Backplain would be a good route if you have a case that will let you mount it in and you can find one at a good price.

Get a external box like an HP disk system, it will be cheaper.

GIGABYTE X299 AORUS ULTRA GAMING - SATA PORTS 4-7 NOT WORKING ???
                    by DynaxSC
                    Hi,

I have the above mentioned bord after repair, which was related to a lot of missing smd devices on the back of the board.
There were almost 20 devices missing, caps, resistors and some diodes/mosfets.
The board is generally working now, all PCIe ports are working, Windows installs normally.

However I have a problem with SATA ports 4-7 (the board has 8 SATA ports) - disks are not beeing recognized by the BIOS neither by Windows (which is usually normal in case BIOS does not recognize them).
The SATA 4-7 driver network is quite simple chipset<->buffers/drivers<->SATA...

Pegatron M2N78-LA (rev. 3.02) freezes on POST with SATA drives attached
                    by momaka
Like the title says, I have a Pegatron M2N78-LA (HP P/N: 513430-002) motherboard out of an HP Pavilion PC. The motherboard hard-locks during POST when it gets to the part of trying to detect the SATA devices *only* if there is a SATA device (be it HDD or optical drive) connected to any of the SATA ports. I cannot enter BIOS or do anything when this occurs. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del cannot restart the system either. In fact, the keyboard locks up too (Num Lock status LED cannot be toggled anymore.). However, if I disconnect everything from the motherboard's SATA ports, the motherboard can POST successfully...

It's 2025: do you know where your 5¼" floppy drives are?
                    by eccerr0r
                    Oh wow.

As in the other thread I was trying to revive/re-bootstrap an old Apple IIe and wasn't successful reading or writing any disk. Both drives behave similarly.

Then I was wondering, what about my PC floppy drives? I have a HH 5¼" HD drive and a combo 5¼+3½ drive. I tried formatting the disk that wouldn't work in the Apple and it didn't work in the PC either!

Then I tried a HD 5.25 disk ... it won't even touch the disk either! Just like the Apple DD disk, "Not Ready!"

Weird. Seems the PC drive is having trouble clamping...

Lenovo 11e problems (any sata hdds are not recognized, sleep battery drain)
                    by clabr
Need help to solve some problems with this laptop.

After working in bed with it one night and heating up too much (probably the cause of this problems) the sata HDD OS windows froze
After restart the original Sata HDD was not recognized anymore (but works fine in other laptops or PCs)

Tried connecting other good Sata 2.5 HDDs but not one is working in this laptop anymore (not the original nor others)

Before this had happened I observed some other problems:
When I tried replacing original mecanical HDD with a SSD HDD could not get them...
