so, I got this 280 desktop from goodwill, no os or hard drive. works great, but when it comes up above the dell logo it says "Property of Northrop Grunmann". I reflashed the bios and it still says it. anyone know if there is an advanced hidden menu to change this text? I want to resell it. more of an inconvenience really.

i bet that if you added it to a .iso for win 98, boot with cdrom support, and in the resulting command line have it run D:\xxx.exe (or whatever .exe it is), you could run it. or does the program you downloaded ask for a floppy disk?
since isomaster is freeware for linux (and I use linux), I often use that trick to make bios update CD's.sigpic

You can try doubling the capacity by drilling the correct hole on the right hand side. 1.44MB floppies have this hole while 720K floppies don't. If they are newer ones they should work, they were actually 1.4MB ones with half capacity disabled.
Even if not, If you change the BIOS floppy drive option to 720K you should be able to use them. As long as they can hold enough data, of course!"Tantalum for the brave, Solid Aluminium for the wise, Wet Electrolytic for the adventurous"

the program itself needs a 1.44, windows sees it fine like 720

You can punch a hole in the side of the floppy so it is recognized as a 1440KB floppy...
Google for it, but to do this when working with critical data is just silly (BIOS tools)
Get a USB flash drive, format it using the "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool"

throw the files on a hiren's cd and boot to dos. or throw on a usb stick and boot off the cd. works on 90% of stuff.Comment

Iβm currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, Iβm at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Hereβs a full breakdown:
𧩠Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight

Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,... -

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....
