That's only true for short files in burst mode.
Once the 32MB of buffer is full on the Caviar Black you will be back down to ~90Mb/s for the rest of the transfer.

I only use the charts on client machines to point out glaring problems with the disk system. Don't care about legit comparison.
The link below is an HD Tach reading from a 640gb AALS Caviar Black prior to it going into ICH10R as RAID1. The performance after configuring as fakeraid1 is unchanged.
I'm OK using RAID1 with the Intel software-assist scheme. Too bad they don't make drivers available for other platforms (Linux, ESX) that could make use of a simple RAID1 solution.
