2 capacitors in parallel vs. single capacitor

Good day folks. I need a bit of advice on how I should go about replacing two dead capacitors on a Samsung power board. Wasn't too sure whether this belongs in the TV repair category or capacitor questions, but I settled on the latter thinking it's really a general topic that can apply to various projects, not just power supplies, so here goes:

Without going into too much detail (since that would pertain to the TV section), I need to replace 2 electrolytic capacitors which have failed on the primary of a Samsung power supply. Sounds like a simple task, but the capacitors have an unusual value - 56uF which I couldn't find at my local shop so I was wondering what the best alternative would be. Caps in parallel, as far as I know, add up, meaning I have 112uF there really. Should I go with two capacitors of the nearest higher value (which I THINK is 68uF for a total of 136uF, which is higher than 112uF), or should I go with a SINGLE 120uF capacitor instead, which is closer but still higher ? Of course, they'd be within the 450v requirement of the original ones, so don't bother with that. I don't have any pictures of the board right now, but it's got a PFC booster if that makes the least bit of difference....just in case some tech gurus will immediately point out something really technical related to that which might make either option unfeasible. Cheers guys.

electolytic capacitors have big toleracne, sometimes 20% and higher capacity is always better :-) so use what you have in hand..

Can you find a 47 and a 68 UF cap that would very close I have seen this in power supply before

I do not think that it would mater if it is a little over if it this is the main filtering caps
so you could even use 2 68 UF cap as well I would think

        In General:
If you only need the capacitance, doesn't matter.
If the cap is highly stressed, more is preferable.

I might be able to do that, but wouldn't something bad happen along the way if they're imbalanced like that ? Yeah, you guys are right, main caps like these don't usually undergo a lot of stress (I believe they call that "stress" dv/dt in technical terms ? I may be far off there). These ones only blew because of a power surge, taking some transistors out with them. Varistor didn't go...bad design at its finest IMO >_>

Tv is now working with two 68uF caps in it Success

              RTX 3080 FE Identifying capacitor
              by Prolog
Hi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.

I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.

I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)

I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never...

Single capacitor replacement on arcade pcb
              by GKdays
I have a damaged capacitor from a bootleg double dragon arcade pcb and I have the normal values from it:

10 volt, 100uF, 85c, but someone from an arcade forum said that the ripple current is not that critical and any good quality low esr cap would be fine, the damaged one is an electrolytic can type but I don't know what to look for as far as low esr is concerned, can a ceramic capacitor be used instead, the capacitor is going to the +5 volt

I don't know the brand but on the top of the capacitor is stamped "76 F6" if there is a datasheet ide be able to...

Sony RCD-W3 Deck A (Playback only) not playing CDs (Disk Error) repair
              by goodpsusearch
Recently I was given for free a Sony RCD-W3 with the following symptoms, CD recorder drive reads CDs without any issues (haven't tested recording function yet because I don't intend to burn CDs on that machine) but the reader drive shows disc error after some seconds of it trying to read CD. Tried both CD-Rs and commercial audio CDs with same results.

First thing to do was to clean the lens but that didn't change anything. Googling the issue revealed that this is a common issue on several Sony CD recorder machines and the culprit is SMD electrolytic caps located on the PCB bellow...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
              by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...

How can I test non-polarized capacitor?
              by chth96
I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm

And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.
I found catalogue of samwha capacitor(samwha-catalogue_3.pdf file), which is attached to this thread,...
