      I reckon that's a typo

BIOS history shows support being added for SST 39SF040 and MXIC MX29F040, neither of which are FWH chips

If you really want BIOS 1005, try ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock3...works/cur-dls/
      I DL's the most recent v1011 BIOS.
Peering inside it, I find uCode updates for Tualatins, specifically
SL5XL and SL657, being these are 1.4GHz PIII-S. There are furthermore,
a number of tualatins supported in the uCode update.
I have listed these in the attachment.

Q - I don't have a Tualatin at the mo. Can somebody perhaps,
test this to see if works? Again, the Asus docs only state
support up to 1GHz coppermine. I have tested SL5FQ (two of)
and these work correctly. Bearing in mind the SL5FQ are FC-PGA2,
Tualatins may work - I would like to find out.

      Any help appreciated

        Re: Asus CUR-DLS

        Ans.

        I found a number of SL5XL in an Intel SDS2 I have.
Installed these in the CUR-DLS. System will not post.
Obviously the pin out for a Tualatin PIII-S and Celeron
differs from a coppermine (as is well known).

As such, albeit the coppermine do come in a FC-PGA2
or rather, are dressed as an FC-PGA2 to the extent
they have heat spreaders, they are not wired the same as
Tualatins which are in a FC-PGA2 package also.

I suppose a Lin Lin s730 adapter might do the trick.
I do recollect I have one of these spare.
Will try this with the CUR-DLS in single CPU mode.

Any suggestions or can others confirm results?

          Re: Asus CUR-DLS

Y - The adapter appears to work, rather the system
POSTS with the adapter and single CPU in CPU1
          i.e. a PIII-S 1.4GHz 133MHz Tualatin SL5XL.

I will, of course, try to get another adapter to try
          this in dual processor mode.

Does any other forum members have differing experiences?

          Thx.

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)
            by razor_amd
With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI - BIOS Help
            by grimacelord
            Hello,

I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.

I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.

The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.

Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...

            ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
            Some issues
            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

            Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Asus ROG Ally X -RC72LA - changed hidden bios settings with 'Smokeless-UMAF', won't get past boot logo

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
            Model No: RC72LA
            Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...
