    Confused with this ceramic capacitor

This orange capacitor is grounded on both legs when tested with a multimeter to ground point. But when removed it is good on the TC1 tester.

I check the trace and they are both soldered into the ground trace and have been when it was working.

Shurly if this was soldered to ground on both legs this would effectively render it as a short?

    What am I missing here?

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
    by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

ASUS TUF FX506HCB DANJJBMB1A0 missing ceramic capacitor near CPU/GPU VRM
    by CGm
    Hello everyone,

I am currently working on an ASUS TUF FX506HCB motherboard (DANJJBMB1A0 REV:A) with a missing ceramic capacitor near the CPU/GPU VRM area. The area also appears to have been worked on previously.

I am trying to identify the exact name, value and voltage rating of this capacitor because the laptop recently stopped powering on.

If anyone has a boardview or schematic with the correct component values for this motherboard, or can help identify this capacitor, I would greatly appreciate it.

I attached photos of the motherboard and...

    Samsung C32HG70 - Blown Ceramic Capacitor (CP813)
    by NuclearSpartan
    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this, so I apologize for not providing enough details. Is there anything else I need to mention? I'm trying to learn more about electronic/board repairs and hopefully fix my own.

The only visible issue on my board is one capacitor, CP813, which appears to be labeled R 221k 2kV (possibly obsolete to B 221k 2kV now). My monitor hadn't shown any prior issues, although it is a few years old. Just before the capacitor popped, there was a high-pitched squeal for 2–3 seconds.

I don't see any other visible damage anywhere else on the board....

    Tantalum capacitor burning out
    by joetristan
    Hello,
I’m using a 10 µF, 20 V tantalum capacitor as a decoupling capacitor across a 5 V supply. When I power the circuit, the capacitor burns out.

At first, I assumed the tantalum capacitor was defective and replaced it, but the new one burned out as well when the circuit was powered.

I then replaced the tantalum capacitor with a 10 µF, 63 V electrolytic capacitor. This time, the capacitor did not fail after powering the circuit.

I do not understand why the tantalum capacitor burns up?
