    MSI 815M Pro V5.1 (MS-6315) Recap

I have a MSI 815M Pro V5.1 (MS-6315) that I would like to recap due to 8 bulging caps (can post a picture if needed) It's an old Piii board.
I have done the odd cap swap from another board but never a full recap.
ATM board is working but only tested to BIOS.

Caps I intend to replace but I am a little unsure if I have picked correctly ( I have tried searching and looking at ripple and ESR but I am a little lost )

    2 No Teapo SM105c 6.3v 1000uF (D 8mm x H 15mm 3.5mm legs) [Panasonic FR 6.3v 1200uF (same size and height )
    14 No G-Luxon ~LZ105c 1084(m) 6.3v 1000uF (D 8mm x H 14/15mm 3.5mm legs) [Panasonic FR 6.3v 1200uF (same size and height )
    5 No Teapo SM105c 6.3v 2700uF (D 10mm x H 25mm 5mm legs) [Panasonic FR 6.3v 2700uF (same size and height )
    3 No Lelon RXA105c L136(m) 10v 1500uF (D 10mm x H 20mm 5mm legs) [Panasonic FR 10v 1800uF (same size and height )
I could find any data on the Lelon as that size seemed to be 1200uF

Also on the board (unsure if I need to change any advice would be welcome)
    1 No Fujitsu 105c-55c M10267 4v 560uF (D 8mm x H 15mm 3.5 legs) Can not really read this properly but assume its Fujitsu from searching.
    13 No Surface mounted 10/16G/105 (D 4mm x H 5mm)
    1 No Surface mounted 22/16G/169 (D 5mm x H 5mm)

that fujitsu 4v cap could be polymer - post a picture.
for surface-mount i try to use tantalum.
voltage for tantalum should be atleast double the actual voltage on the tracks - so check if any are on the 12vrail.

      Thank you for reply
I had assumed it was a polymer and from my searching they seem to last.
When say tantalum do you mean surface mount ( like SMD ) or solder legs to the pads ( I assume its probably best to change all the caps on the board )
Are the Panasonic FR a good replacement for the other caps ?

There is surface mount next to CPU fan and case fan header so I assume these are on the 12v rail ( IIRC Pentium 3 need 3.3 and 5v more than 12v )

        yes, surface-mount tantalums.
they can be tricky to solder because they are often the same spacing as the pads, but because the end contacts fold under them you can solder them down.
i use a knife-style tip for doing that.

The only ones I can find with 25v and 10uF seem to be 6mm long. I can find some SMD Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitor surface mount (Panasonic S-Series ) that seem to be "Like for like"

          Thank you for the help

Yup, Panny FR's should be just fine for any Pentium 3 board.

The Fujitsu cap is likely from their function polymer (FP) family, and unlikely to be bad (I've seen a few of these fail, but only when heavily abused from heat and/or physically.)

DON'T replace the small SMD electrolytics with Tantalums! A few of these are likely for the audio circuits, and that's once place where Tantalums don't belong.
If it was my board, I probably wouldn't bother to replace any of these smaller (100 uF and under) caps.

I have not done the surface mount caps ( as I ordered 47uF instated of 22uF )
All other except 4v Polymer changed to Panasonic FR. Motherboard was a pain to solder to ( lots of copper I assume ), not sure if I should have pre heated a little.
Seems to be running ok ( PSU for a pentium iii is a pain only have 20A 3.3v and 20A 5v Max 110W ATM , as the other 2 I have need work )

                  ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
                  by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D recap help
                  by laskr1999
                  Hello!
I have got multiple DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D motherboards, that I would like to recap for longevity. Can someone please help to find alternatives, with quality caps(I see some noname on it, so I would like to get from quality brands)
As far as I see, I have 69 caps that are on the mobo. This mobo for example had very little usage, so the caps are not yet gassed out like on the other ones. I would like to go with poly where its possible, and keep the same size where I can only put normal ones.
I attach both with and without marked caps pics to see it better.

DFI Lanparty NF3 250GB complete recap help
                  by laskr1999
                  Hello!
I have got a DFI Lanparty NF3 250GB motherboard, that have all of the capacitors failed, board still working.
I have read, that I need to match ESR, Capacitance, Voltage to have a quality recap, but with ESR im in a problem. 0.012 ohm is what i see on the vrm caps specs, but lowest I could find is 0.018 and up, usually 0.04. Can someone help me find good replacements?
I'm located in EU, and I have found a guy here on the forums who listed the caps, so here are they:
                  - 20 x Nichicon 1000uF 6.3v HM 105C
                  - 5 x Chemi-con KZG 1000uF 10V
                  - 1 x Chemi-con KZG...

no-name Radeon 9600 XT recap and cooler
                  by momaka
I've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.

This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire....

Looking for someone to recap Dell XPS T450 motherboard (Live in suburbs outside of Philly)
                  by varunviolin007
                  Hi guys,

I’m looking for someone in the Northeast to do a full electrolytic capacitor recap on a working Dell Dimension XPS T450 motherboard (it's an Intel 440BX, Slot 1). The board runs mostly fine but is beginning to freeze after warm reboots (turns back on for 30 secs or so and then freezes up but is perfectly fine after 12 hr cool down).

I’d be sending just the bare motherboard (CPU, cards, bracket, battery all removed). I’m located in Chadds Ford, PA and happy to ship within the US.

Looking for someone experienced with older PC boards who uses...
