I use Cornell Dubilier and Amrad with good success. Anywhere from an electric wood splitter, to deep well pumps. So far so good. -
I hear Aerovox are pretty good, seen them used a lot with HID ballasts and haven't really seen/heard of many, if any failures. But yeah, oil filled capacitors as a whole suffered a lot during the PCB ban, as those older capacitors were really stable and held up really well, even to this day.Leave a comment:

Great info. "...the PCB phaseout" - - So that is what has caused them to not last as long. I was wondering why they did not last as long as these days.

Amrad, Titan HD (not Titan Pro), Mars (only the USA made ones). Generally any of the US made brands are decent (compared to the Chinese/Mexican stuff) which all of the listed brands are, however none of them last as long as they did before the PCB phaseout.Leave a comment:

Good brands of run capacitor for house heat hump
Are there good brands for 'run capacitors' or 'start capacitors' that are used on electric motors or heat pump compressors? ... r are the good capacitor brands for electronics (power supplies, laptops, motherboards, etc.) also the good brands for run capacitors?
Yeah I know this might be a novice question, but I just wanted to be sure. I did do a search on the forum but did not see this question asked before.

gigabyte x870i aorus pro ice stuck on dram light, ddr5 power good voltage 0 when ram stick installedI have a gigabyte x870i board I am attempting to repair. I have a working board as well to reference. The board is stuck on the dram light, wont post and I found the power good pin has 0 volts when powered on with a stick of ram installed. With out the ram it is 3.3v. Another weird issue with the board is when trying to use qflash to update the bios, the qflash light blinks for about 15 seconds then turns off for 30-45 seconds and then turns back on solid for about 3 minutes. My working reference board will flash the qflash led for about 15 seconds, turn off for a few seconds then turn back on... -

Well, my account here still works. I still remember those days … replacing the caps to save a motherboard. Back before our current disposable-mentality really took-hold. I’ve looked around at the recent threads … it’s really cool how yall help each other. I’ve still been upgrading and fixing desktops and laptops. Replace a laptop-MB, install a NVMe-SSD, new thermal compound apply, pull a coin-battery to clear-cmos (that kind of thing).
Now that we apparently have to try to build laptops like phones (solder almost everything to the motherboard) looks like the idea of repairing... -

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and...
