Re: Another instance of the shameless Sacon FZ... with a twist!
I made it boot with 2x1GB DDR2! It wasn't easy at all though..
I think the memory controller is terrible. Every time I chose "automatic configuration" in bios it failed to boot with more than 1 dimm installed!
I had to select "manual - User defined" select the right timings and ddr2 speed and then save changes and reboot. Then, install the second identical dimm and press the power button and hope for the best. If the system did not boot I would remove the second dimm and try again... After many attempts it finally posted with both the dimms recognized. I was also able to select 667MHZ speed and aggressive latency settings and let it run memtest overnight to make sure I get no errors.
It runs in single channel though. Maybe, when set to auto config it tries to run them dual channel and fails. I don't have a clue why it does that.
I upload screenshots showing the fastest settings it can run without problem.Comment

Re: Another instance of the shameless Sacon FZ... with a twist!
I used to have a board exactly like that. It booted first go with two 1GB RAM Modules installed. It wasn't any more picky about the RAM than any other board. Bear in mind, though, though, that those Intel boards with ATI chipsets were actually made by ASUS (note the backwards capacitor polarity markings) - It probably explains why they don't always work right.
In general, though, I've actually had really good luck with Foxconn-made Intel boards - I'll quite happily use one over ASUS or ECS any day. Some of the 945 and 915 boards got hot VRMs, but with a few modifications (such as heatsinks on the FETs), I've found them to be quite solid, reliable boards. Other than a handful of VRM failures, the only other failures I've had with them were one or two where the customer lived right on the coast and there was obvious corrosion everywhere, and one that got killed by lightning. I've never found them to be all that picky about anything either.Last edited by c_hegge; 05-12-2014, 01:58 AM.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

by momakaSo after using capacitor bungs to repair the rubber feet on two laptops, shown here:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...&postcount=548
… and here:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...&postcount=585
… I was inevitably left with some paper rolls and cans from the Sacon FZ capacitors I “sacrificed”.
The paper rolls from these Sacon FZ caps looked absolutely bone-dry. The idea then occurred to me: what if I put a few drops of water on there? How (if at all) would that affect these already-failed capacitors?...-

by AWFRONTI have recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen4 Twist with Dual Screen. Here are the links for the product information:
ThinkBook Plus Gen 4 (13″ Intel) | 13.3″ & 12″ Dual-Screen 2-in-1 Business Laptop | Lenovo UK
However, somehow the serial number and the product name is no longer showing under the BIOS, Windows 11 or Lenovo Vantage.
Strangely the laptop's under cover does not show any information about the Make, Model, Type or Serial Number (No sign of tampering but no labels etc...). I am not sure what to do.
I do not have access to the original box...06-21-2025, 11:09 AM -

by kurlandHi,
My kids broke the micro, so no pocket money this weekend...
Metal kettle with frozen food inside for 15+ minutes and thing went poof , and *very* hot. These things should have a thermal switch
I opened it and confirmed a blown 10A fuse. I took the inverter out and also found that the middle LGBT (GT60N90 - 900V @ 60 A) as well as the FBR at left was toast. The right LGBT measured good.
I figured this would be an easy fix and ordered and replaced all three components. Before that I also testet the magnetron and it measures... -
