Will you invite me

I would like to join the Elektro Tanya website so I can upload and download schematics and manuals. I finally found a small item that told me I had to be invited by a member to join. Is there a Badcaps forum member who will send me an invitation so I may join please? This is an uncommon request for me but I have no other venue to pursue membership. I hope this is a permissible post Mr. Moderators. If not please forgive me and I will delete it upon notification.

You can register if you pass a test on their website : http://elektrotanya.com/?q=dotest&lang=en

I'm a user and the page with invites says I have no invites so perhaps invites are disabled.

I failed the test the first time on my home pc, i just restarted the test on my dedicated server and got it the first time, but the test was different and MUCH easier, not so confusing questions.

I have 5 IPs on the dedicated server, I could have changed the IP five times to redo the test

If you really want to, I can set up a proxy on a couple of those IPs to try your luck, t.j

or maybe shove can help you, he has plenty of ips.

I flunked....missed one. didn't say which, so no idea. How stupid can they be with this invite/test crap.... Love their slogan: "This site helps you to save the Earth from electronic waste!"....but yet they keep people out who are in need/want to learn.... They save the earth from nothing. Disgraceful.

One of the reasons I made downloading manuals from my service site easy. Search for file, click on file, open file, read file, delete file. Costs me, what, $120/year? I don't care if someone downloads one file or two hundred. Only major limitation (imo) is that I haven't got a lot of manuals yet, but I'm working on improving it.

Out of all the monitors and TVs I have tried to repair, I only found a service manual for one of them on ElektroTanya. It was so poorly written and contained such little information that it was almost useless.

I also failed on 1 question. Had to read some of the questions a few times to understand them. I am certain that I got 4 of them right. They were questions about modulation type, identify an ic, PFC, & electric shocks.

So I assume that I got this one wrong. Which do you think is the odd one out?

The answer for that would be B, a quartz oscillator .

A is probably two diodes with a common cathode
B is oscillator
C is a diode (leds are diodes)
D is a bridge rectifier (made out of 4 diodes)

Yep. I put B.

Component A is actually a 7912 regulator. Even though I couldn't make it out, even when I looked at the larger photo on the website, I saved it & viewed it with paint.net. After increasing the brightness & magnifying it, I could see it was a 7912.

So, I think that the answer is that A, C, & D are semiconductors & B is a crystal. I am still certain that I got the other questions right. It would help if they told you which question they think you have got wrong.
