I’m working on an Asus Zenbook S16 UM5605 and trying to find motherboard schematics or a boardview for this model. I haven’t been able to locate anything useful so far, so hoping someone here might have it or point me in the right direction. What I’ve checked
When I plug in the charger:
The battery appears to be in a locked state:
So I’m trying to confirm:
I’m not sure if this is normal behaviour for this platform or if something in the power sequence is failing and preventing the battery from being released. What I’m trying to figure out
If anyone has worked on this model, has schematics, or can confirm whether the battery locked / battery-required startup is normal, I’d really appreciate the help. Happy to share board photos and measurements if needed.

- Asus support site → only user/service manuals, no schematics
- General searches → nothing specific for UM5605
- Compared with similar Zenbook / Ryzen boards, but layouts don’t fully match
When I plug in the charger:
- Adapter voltage present (~20.3V)
- 0.00A current draw
- I’ve measured around 2.2V on part of the board (still tracing the source)
- No obvious shorts on main rails so far
The battery appears to be in a locked state:
- No charge
- No discharge
- System will not power on without the battery connected, even with a known-good adapter
So I’m trying to confirm:
- Is this model designed to require a battery to start the motherboard?
- Or could the EC / charger be keeping the battery locked due to a missing enable or fault condition?
I’m not sure if this is normal behaviour for this platform or if something in the power sequence is failing and preventing the battery from being released. What I’m trying to figure out
- Power-on sequence for this board
- Whether adapter-only startup is supported
- Battery lock conditions (EC / charger logic)
- Charger IC and PMIC enable signals
- Which rails should be present before and after power button press
- Full motherboard schematics
- Boardview (.brd / .bdv) would help a lot
- Any info from a similar Asus Zenbook / Ryzen board is also welcome
