Thinkpad E14 Gen 2 NM-C771 - No display no fan no beep no boot
    by ongobongo
    Hi there,
I got this laptop which was not working at all. When attached to an amp-meter, the meter wasn't working at all also. I quickly found out that the PD-Power switch was gone and fully shorting to ground. After replacing that (NX20P5090) I got live back into the laptop.
Now the battery is charging, charge indicator is working and the power led is blinking 3 times when i attach a charger. but, unfortunately, this is it. When i push the power-button, the power led turns on, but that's it. No display, no beep, no fan spin, nothing (but cpu gets warm).
    I tried flashing a new...

220VAC locales... ever used DC to feed switch mode power supples...and how many volts is generally okay?
    by eccerr0r
For those in 220V locales, anyone power their SMPS with DC, and how high of a voltage is okay?
    What kind of PSU?
I suspect that 240V * sqrt(2) = 340V DC is probably fine because that would be about how much the the primary rectifier ends up with peak voltage. Just wondering, other than input capacitor voltages, can one go up above this 340V without damage? Will that input capacitor be the upper bound?
Wondering if exactly that, can I feed near 400VDC into bona fide specced at 220V SMPS without damage?

Currently have a 120/220V switchable SMPS I want to see if I...

    Need a HP 255 G8 (HPL51 LA-L021P) BIOS
    by mitchw
    Looking for a BIOS for HP 255 G8 (HPL51 LA-L021P).

The main problem is that the laptop will crash while booting to OS. Will crash even on booting from USB, like a Ubuntu or to a Windows 11 installer.
Before junking the board I would try the new BIOS if it does anything.

    Thank you!...

Luxman R-5045 - Cant adjust current bias
    by mikkele86
    Hello good people of badcaps.

    im back with another question

Im trying adjust the current bias accordingly to the manual, but my meter is showing the same value no matter whatever position VR-804a/VR-804b is in.

DC bias is adjusted and is working as intended.

Is my settings on the multimeter wrong ? or should i look for a bad component

    note: all transistor are new

Fortinet 50E Slowing down internet throughput
    by mon2
Hello. Coming to you from the laptop forum. Have a client with the Fortinet 50E that has 320 Mbps as internet input speed but only 20 Mbps output on each and every downstream port (using FAST.COM to benchmark).

Reseller is stating the Fortinet is 'worn out' which does not sound logical at all unless the flash memory is 'worn out'. They, of course, want to sell another + onsite installation fees.

Can anyone share feedback on this unit? What can cause this sluggish behavior. From our knowledge, this device is snooping on the traffic to halt viruses / hack attacks, etc....

    cisco poe switch PSU issue
    by madan1
    Hello everyone.
I'm troubleshooting a cisco switch, which seems to have an issue with the PSU.
The psu has the following power rails - +12v, -53.5V and +3.3V
When connected to power, the +12 and -53.5 seem to work fine, but the +3.3 starts at ~3v and then goes down to ~0 (I guess this is the cap discharging). This happens both when the cable is connected and not to the switch board.
Any ideas what might be causing this behavior?

BIOS rebuild requested for HP Pavilion Aero 13-be0003ca laptop
    by trepachka
Hello, I have the following laptop:

    HP Pavilion Aero 13-be0003ca
    ProdID: 2L7M8UA#ABL
    S/N: 8CG150GPV6

    Motherboard information is below:

    HP Part# M52826-601
    448.ONE04.0011
    203016-1

    It needs BIOS repaired.

I created a flash drive using HP firmware utility and then had it plugged into the computer. I did the standard WinLogo->B key->Power button press. A window appeared and immediately began flashing the bios using the flash drive.
But I don't think it finished all the way. So, now when I attempt...

    Asus X705UV bios
    by MDSI
    Hello.

I have an Asus X705UV which no longer starts since the last Windows update. I suspect Windows Update of having tried to update the bios and having corrupted it, because currently, I have the charging indicator when I plug in the charger and I have the power indicator when I press the on/off button but nothing more, not even a fan running.
Could someone check this bios and if it is broken, repair it?

Sorry in advance, google translate is useful but not perfect. 😂

Thank you in advance ! 🙏...
