by ahoonidHey everyone,
I have a MacBook Air 2017 with a weird problem. The MacBook was totally dead at first and the culprit was the C7430 capacitor which was obvious upon initial inspection as it had a fracture on its surface.
The F7140 fuse was also blown so I changed them both. L7130 due to corrosion was also replaced. Now everything works again. Laptops turns on and everything seems reliable at this point.
The only issue that I'm afraid might bite me in the ass later is the magsafe light as it randomly changes light from orange to green while charging. Other times...04-10-2024, 04:06 PM -
by eccerr0rFor those in 220V locales, anyone power their SMPS with DC, and how high of a voltage is okay?
What kind of PSU?
I suspect that 240V * sqrt(2) = 340V DC is probably fine because that would be about how much the the primary rectifier ends up with peak voltage. Just wondering, other than input capacitor voltages, can one go up above this 340V without damage? Will that input capacitor be the upper bound?
Wondering if exactly that, can I feed near 400VDC into bona fide specced at 220V SMPS without damage?
Currently have a 120/220V switchable SMPS I want to see if I...04-22-2024, 08:03 PM -

by abajorI've gotten into the habit of Looking at peoples Mechanical Hard drives with a Ubuntu thumb drive to boot their system.
I understand the raw values are not really uniform between manufacturers, but I have noticed that high seek and read error raw values at the very least correlate to a drive that is going to have sub par access time, and extremely slow OS booting.
The odd thing is I've often seen very high seek and read error rates on drives with fairly low on time.
Does anybody have any other takes on evaluating smart data? I've used Crystal Disk Info, It seems to present...-

by timonix20hello everyone I am looking for a solution for my tv, I think corruption of the eemc,
the TV starts, LG logo, then nothing (rear backlight)
no reaction to rear command or infrared
the usb procedure that I tried on the LG site is a procedure with the screen and the remote control so I can't.
I have a chance with a usb procedure or other if you have .bin
if any people have this main board

by crosswindsHello,
So, pulled a motherboard out from storage, was working when put away, wont post when I took it out of storage today.
Since it was working, and it looks to be essentially time that killed it I figured its a good idea to replace the caps before digging further.
Looks to be only good quality caps on this board, so might not be the issue. But it is closing in on 20 years now so, wont hurt i guess
Its a ASUS P5VDZ-MX board.
I would really appreciate some assistance on what the best replacement caps would be for these:

by abajorI have the above mentioned MBP, quick scan with thermal camera revealed that only U3200 was heating up. I found that C3208, C3219 and C3205 were all reading ~6.8ohms to ground.
so I swapped U3200.
I connected the PSU again for a quick check on thermal it's drawing about the same amount of current but now I'm seeing only heat radiating from U7800 and the T2 chip from under the black shielding fabric, and the bottom of the board.
It's hard to judge the actual temperature without removing the shielding.
Does anybody have any insights?

by reformattCouple of Windows 11 machines have come in this week with the same issue. After you login, the taskbar will not appear (or just be a black bar). No access to Start Menu. Task Manager (use CTL+SHIFT+ESC) works, however the Performance stats seem stuck with CPU on 100% for Task Manager itself. Trying to exit Task Manager result in it hanging as well. No issue if you boot into Safe Mode.
First machine, tried many things to no avail (System Restore from last Windows update, rebooting in Diag mode, trying to reinstall Windows Apps via Powershell). In the end, I did an in-place upgrade...Yesterday, 10:16 PM -
by Drake328Hello,
I recently got a PS5 with an EMD-032 board and someone before me “tried” to change the HDMI port. Unfortunately, a few SMD components are now missing, see image. the top one should be a 100nF cap. but what is the lower (0Ohm resistance?)
