Sony Vaio Z40UL MB Faulty onboard RAM

    Hello to all.
    I have a Z40UL mobo (MBX-278) with faulty onboard RAM (4Gb)
I can't find the schematic to see if it's possible to disable onboard ram.
What happens if I just remove all the onboard ram chips and install a memory module on the empty slot?.

Machine boots fine but gives blue screens.
    Memtest86 confirmed the faulty ram

    Any advise would be great

Hi, you have the RAM number written on the chip, why you don't change the chip for a new one instead of disabling the RAM on the board, it will be easier to do so.

Sorry, he said he could take out the RAMs, I thought he might put some new ones instead.

Thanks for the replies. I have a rework station but no access to new chips.
Owner does not want to wait until I buy them in China, so I thought disabling onboard ram and using a sodimm would be fine.
