You could also poly-mod the CPU VRM.

For the four 1500uF 16V caps (which will be on the VRM High side), use http://www.badcaps.net/store/product...products_id=78

For the 3300uF 6.3V (VRM Low side) use http://www.badcaps.net/store/product...roducts_id=134 and fill the 3 blank spaces

For the 1500uF 6.3v caps use, http://www.badcaps.net/store/product...roducts_id=152. The small capacitance increase won't matter. (and the link to the 1500uF cap is broken - I'll PM topcat about that one).

For the 1000uF 6.3V caps, use http://www.badcaps.net/store/product...roducts_id=131

Here's the 1500uF 6.3v caps, now that the link is fixed http://www.badcaps.net/store/product...roducts_id=136.

No guarantees.
You have permission to "boldly go where no man has gone before".
Let us know how it works out.
-
Not all Polys have better ESR specs than lytics so the idea that any ole poly will work is a farce.
You still have to check specs to make sure the ESR is better than original.
-
VRM mods are well worked out and if you use the right polys it works well.
That mod has been outlined in a number of threads.
-
The other parts of the board is anyone's guess.
The only one that can tell you would be someone that has done it on THAT specific board.
-
Additionally, unless you are having heat issues outside of the VRM, there is really no big benefit to using ploys outside the VRM.
.
A misconception is that you can always lower uF if you use polys.. Nope..
That's -only- true in the VRM if you use the right polys.
In other parts of the board it is anyone's guess and you probably need the original uF if you want a stable board.
