Default why would x-windows crash?

i had a server RHEL4 logged into gnome. worked fine for months. transferred a shitload of data to it and logged in many new users. last computer i had cleaned coolwebsearch etc a lot of shit off it (goddam employee pron surfing) then connected it to the server. shitty connection. appears the tcpip stack or something is toast from the spyware. gonna reinstall and caution the employee. i went to the server room and gnome had stuck, no mouse or kbd. server was happily serving meanwhile. i rebooted via webmin and was ok.

i have to deal with this on monday. checking through the logs. they are on default logging so i dont know what i will see.

i was thinking that the employees computer with bad tcpip maybe did something to the server? kinda worried about this. what do you think? is this server no go.

Default Re: why would x-windows crash?

Just don't use X on server.
Might be video problems (especially if you use binary nvidia or ati driver).
