    Replacment Options

    Hi everyone,

I needed to find out if a MCZ 1000uf 10v can be replaced with a KZG 1000uf 10v on a motherboard for Gateway 500GR.
Also, I have to replace a KZG 220uf 6.3v, but cannot find it anywhere. What else can it be replaced with, something close that would work.
    Thank you

Yes, they are both low ESR and have similar/identical ripple ratings depending on the size you use.

I would stick with MCZ or something else since KZG do not like hot environments, it depends on where you're putting them really.

I looked on Badcaps.net but could not find the KZG 220uf 6.3v
Any idea on where I can find this or if I can use something else to relpace it.
This is for a Gateway 500GR motherboard.
          Thank you

The 220uf 16v linked above will work fine.

NEVER use KZG or KZJ in recaps. They are a bad cap.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

                ^^ Agree ^^

                220uF 6.3v is a common cap.
Using 220uF 10v or 16v is fine if they physically fit.
                - The diameter or height might matter for it to fit.

The voltage rating on a cap is a max limit.
Using one with a bit higher limit is fine as long as you don't get silly.
A 50v cap might be silly depending on who you ask.
A 63v or 100v cap WOULD be silly. [10+ times higher...]
