    HG281D Monitor Problem

    Hello all,

I have a Hanns G 281D that I purchased about three years ago and now i'm currently having a problem with it. The monitor will not work under its normal resolution (1920x1200) without it being fully warmed up. In order for me to "warm up" the monitor I have to use 800x600 resolution and slowly increase the resolution over time. Once I finally get into 1920x1200 over several hours, I have to put a sweat shirt on the back side of the monitor otherwise the picture will go out. The normal blue LED light that shows when the monitor is on stopped a few months after I purchased the monitor so I am unable to tell if it is flashing. I opened up the back of the case to see if any capacitors were bad but I am unable to see any that are faulty. I'll post some pictures on this tomorrow. Does this sound like a capacitor problem to you guys?

Not heard anything quite like that. It sounds as though it could be capacitors, but could be a cold joint depending on what you mean by "not work under its normal resolution"- doesnt come on at all, garbled screen, dark screen etc.may be the bulbs or associated wiring.
Cooking it under a sweatshirt will be doing it no good at all - you will be causing all the caps to deteriorate.
    Look forward to the pics.
    Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say what the supposed fault was and a bit about yourself - skills tools etc.
