Does it matter: Replacement parts almost the same

    Hi all,

I have a Toshiba LCD TV-55zv650u, and it's not turning on. I've narrowed it down a few components on the power board to replace:

    Regulator- STR Y6456 9502A
    Fuse- RGDU5M-5E 1.8 ohm J

I'm currently searching for these parts with little luck.

I found this one part that's STR y6456 0502A. And the difference is in between one number- 9 vs. 0 for the component.

Is that a big deal? Does it have to be identical?

9502A is not important - it's the date it was made.

    your looking for STR-Y6456

That "regulator" is actually a PWM-FET combo IC for power supplies. The actual part number is STR-Y6456, and that's all you need to look for. The mismatch in numbers between 9502A and 0502A doesn't matter, as that is likely a production date code and/or lot number indicator.

Anyways, what makes you think that PWM-FET IC is blown? Is the fuse blown (reading open-circuit)? We could help more if we know more.

stj beat me to it. See his attached datasheet.

Hi all. Appreciate the prompt response!

stj & momaka- Thanks for clearing that up. Makes sense now !

I essentially followed the instructions from this video( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttrS...ex=103&list=WL). Used my own volt meter, and found my unit to have tested the same ratings for the good & bad caps.

I'm looking at these parts for the IC. However I get a wide range of prices:

        $2.50
        http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1PCS-Power-MO...IAAOSwhkRWg-LR

        $13.50
        http://www.ebay.ca/itm/STR-Y6456-STR...wAAOSwImRYIPsZ

Its the same brand etc. Despite the difference in quantity. Do you think there's an actual difference in quality? Is the first link too good to be true?

I'm also stuck in terms of the brand that offers this IC part, as everyone is selling the same piece.

The resistor is an Ohmite brand ($3), which I've read is reliable. With shipping totals to approx $15.

So are you getting <10 Ohms between pin 1 and pin 2 of the STR?
The fusible resistor shows >5 Ohms?

That one for $3.37 cdn plus $4.04 shipping comes from China, could take about 2 - 3 weeks, probably comes via china post (Canada post)
that one for $18.12 plus $18.48 comes via the USA and most likely came from China, You could also get charge broker fees and taxes from the usa
I would order the one from China
            or from UTsource https://www.utsource.net/search.aspx...R-Y6456&page=1

I have a rgdu5m-5e that reads dead short or .0000 ohms out of circuit. It makes me think the "fuse" part of it is working but with no resistence I think it is bad and sending a fault back to the mainboard. What do the smarter people than me think?

What scale of the Ohm meter are you on?

i think you would have to spend close to a $1000 on a 7.5digit or 8digit meter to get that level of accuracy!

No, I only spent about $9 on a $60 Radio Shack model. Store was closing. It doesnt read .0000 but it was showing shrt(short). I replaced it with a 2.0 ohm I had in a parts bin and the tv turned on! Too bad the piece of crap Toshiba's seine board started on FIRE!
I did the reasonable thing, punched the screen out, said a few F bombs, and threw it in the back of my truck. I really dont like Toshibas..LOL
