    ZyXEL P-660H-D1 recap

I will be doing a recap on my ADSL modem soon, since hosting Skype conversations and game matches has become nearly impossible due to lag issues and random drop-outs for me. Hopefully this is a capacitor issue and even if it's not, this will be a preventive recap.

The modem in question is a ZyXEL P-660H-D1. Maximum capacitor height in this unit is 18mm, but 20mm caps could be used without problems. Any higher than that will require drilling holes to the plastic cover.

    See attached pic.

[SILKSCREEN MARKING] # [CAPACITOR BRAND / SERIES] # [CAPACITANCE / VOLTAGE] # [MEASURED VOLTAGE AT CAP] # [CAPACITOR DIAMETER]

    C62 # JH / W-M series # 1000uF / 16V # 3.34V # 10mm

    C64 # empty spot # # 15.2V # silkscreened for 10mm cap
    C65 # empty spot # # 15.2V # silkscreened for 10mm cap

    C83 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 470uF / 6.3V # 3.22V # 8mm
    C87 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 470uF / 6.3V # 1.63V # 8mm
    C89 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 470uF / 6.3V # 1.64V # 8mm
    C90 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 470uF / 6.3V # 3.32V # 8mm

    C96 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 47uF / 35V # 11.96V # ~6mm
    C101 # JACKCON / LOW ESR # 47uF / 35V # 11.96V # ~6mm

    C115 # Hermei [? series] # 1uF / 50V # 0.10V # 4mm

    C125 # Lelon R2W # 220uF / 10V # 3.33V # 6,5mm
    C127 # Lelon R2W # 220uF / 10V # 1.72V # 6,5mm

    C206 # JACKCON LHK # 2200uF / 25V # 15.3V # 16mm

I'm thinking of using 560uF 4V Nichicon polymer caps in place of C83 - C90. Would that be ok?

Also, I'll fill in the empty spots with 1000uF 25V caps. These are for input voltage filtering, correct?

By those voltages, I'd say that the empty spots are indeed for input filtering. However, to be sure, you should try to follow the traces and see if they're in parallel with the one already there.

The polymers should be ok, but I don't have much experience with them so somebody else might be able to tell you for sure.

What Brand/Series are you going to use to replace the rest?
