    World Friendship power converter WF-(8945AN)

    Pic's attached....
AC to DC power converter...anyone able to tell me what the square caps are on the board,(marked in pic). It appears blown and I can't find no numbers on them or anything else to help me look it up.
The marked pigtail fuse blew and I changed it out, it popped instantly. I found what appears some sort of cap that looks blown. Any and all help I'm very grateful for, thanks in advance

those are adjusters, the red stuff is just to stop you messing with them

if your blowing fuses then check the stuff on the aluminium heatsink for shorts.

Thanks for the fast reply Stj... I figured the center adjuster looks bad due to the silver stuff that appears to be leaking unlike the two next to it.
Any guidance on what or how to check the heatsink components?

use the setting that beeps when you touch the probes.

then check the pins on each part in various combinations to see if any of them cause a beep.

you need to desolder the bridge rectifier.
that's the black thing with 4 wires in a line.
then see if the short is on the part, or still on the board.

Ok I got it desoldered and it's still shorting on just the part, I went ahead and ordered a new one, from what I got it's GBJ 2506 but ordered GBJ 2506F which is the same part but lead free.
Hope I can show you this... http://www.digikey.com/product-searc...ds=gbj%202506f
If you look at attached pic's I also marked others spots that beep, but Im thinking that they're connected seems it's just the outter wires that beep.
I hope I'm correct and thank you so much for helping me.

o.k. you need to swap those ferrite tubes over onto the legs of the new one.

I swapped the ferrite tubes over, soldered on new rectifer. Got it all hooked up and everything works
Thanks STJ you saved me at the least $100 in parts alone.
So glad there are people out there willing to help and keeps form sites like these open.
Again I thank you, now to load up the camper and go.
